SAVANNAH, Ga. – The No. 17 SCAD women's soccer team picked up its second consecutive shutout win as the Bees defeated No. 24 Reinhardt University in game one of the SCAD Coca-Cola Classic.
RECORDS: The Bees are now 3-0 to start the season, including two NAIA Top-25 wins. The Eagles are now 0-3 on the season.
HOW IT HAPPENED: The lone goal of the game came from
Abigail Siddall in the 44
th minute when she beat her defender to find the back of the net, past the goalie to give the Bees the 1-0 lead, and eventually the win.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE: SCAD's defense limited the Eagles to only three shots, none of which were on goal, while taking 22 shots of their own (nine on goal).
Abigail Siddall led the offensive charge, scoring one goal and taking five shots.
Sam Wong and
Sydney Chura totaled three shots while
Berglind Baldursdottir,
Ines Sommer,
Abbie Biddle, and
Jule Stendebach tallied two shots a piece.
Ida Akesson, Aleca Garcia Velaza, and
Emma Parrish took one shot each.
Goalie
Katelynn Balsiger totaled 90 minutes in the net, earning the win.
WHAT'S NEXT? The Bees will return to action on Monday, September 4 for day two of the SCAD Coca-Cola Classic where they will face No. RV Georgia Gwinnett College at 11:00 a.m.
