HARDEEVILLE, S.C. – The SCAD men's soccer team earned its first win of the season on Saturday night, defeating Brewton-Parker College 2-0 at home.
RECORDS: The Bees are now 1-0-1, while the Barons start the season at 1-1-0.
HOW IT HAPPENED: Thirty-two minutes into the game,
Ryan Holmes found the back of the net off a cross pass from
Tim Rothe to give the Bees a 1-0 lead.
Not even two minutes later, Rothe connected with Holmes again to go up 2-0. Neither team would score for the remainder of the game as the Bees held strong to earn the 2-0 win.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE: SCAD out-shot Brewton-Parker 16-8, 8-4 in shots on goal. Goalie
Connor Friel picked up the win with four saves in his 90 minutes of work.
Ryan Holmes totaled two goals, four shots on goal, and five total shots, while
Tim Rothe tallied two assists.
Lewis Gamble had four shots, two on goal, while
Daire Russell took three shots.
Fabian Ekblom,
Ben Stephenson,
Phillip Holtgen, and
James Holmes rounded out the shooting with one shot each.
