No. 5 Women’s Lacrosse Takes Down No. 1 Keiser University 20-6

SOUTHFIELD, Mich. – The No. 5 SCAD women's lacrosse competed in the NAIA National Tournament semifinals today against No. 1 Keiser University, winning 20-6.
 
RECORDS: The Bees advance to 12-5 while the Seahawks are now 16-2.
 
DID YOU KNOW? SCAD has given Keiser their only two loses of the season. The first was during the finals of the Sun Conference Championships when the Bees won 9-6.
 
Clarke Haas and Aly De Caro combined for a total of 13 goals, tying the Bees for the NAIA record of goals in a tournament game.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED: SCAD started the first quarter off strong with six consecutive goals. The first came from Clarke Haas (Pensacola, Fla. / Fashion Marketing and Management) assisted by Aly De Caro (El Dorado Hills, Calif. / Advertising and Branding) at the 13:06 mark. Emma Roch (Savannah, Ga. / Fashion Marketing and Management) was able to score the next two with one assist from De Caro only seconds apart. The fourth goal came from De Caro followed by Haas with De Caro wrapping it up for the Bees in the first at the 5:18 mark. The Seahawks were able to score the last goal of the first quarter bringing the score to 6-1 going into the second.
 
Keiser started the scoring off in the second by netting three goals in the first five minutes. SCAD answered with five goals of their own with Haas starting the streak at the 9:56 mark. Annie Berkeley (Massillon, Ohio / Architecture) assisted by Olivia Jackson (York, Pa. / Fashion) scored the Bee's eighth goal. De Caro was able to score two more goals in the second with one assist from Jackson with a goal from Keagan Plume (Glen Arm, Md. / Architecture) in the middle of De Caro's goals. SCAD continued into the half with a seven-point lead, 11-4.
 
The Bees were the only team to score in the third with six goals. Jackson scored only 15 seconds into the quarter with an assist from Plume. Within three minutes, SCAD scored three times with goals from De Caro assisted by Kambria Barry (Orlando, Fla. / Architecture), Roch assisted by Ainsley Jones (Harvard, Mass. / Graphic Design), and Haas assisted by Roch. Haas scored two more times, once at the 4:55 mark and then again at the 1:40 mark rounding out the score to 17-4 going into the last quarter.
 
The Bees extended the lead to 19-4 with two goals in the first four minutes of the fourth. Molly Wilson (Acworth, Ga. / Graphic Design) scored at the 14:15 mark followed by De Caro at the 11:25 mark. The Seahawks scored their last two goals of the game in the last seven minutes while SCAD was able to score at the 2:29 mark from Haas to wrap the game with a score of 20-6.
 
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE: De Caro had a game high of 12 draw controls while also scoring six goals, two assists, gaining control of two ground balls and two caused turnovers.
 
Haas had the game high of seven goals and totaled one caused turnover, one ground ball and one draw control.
 
Goalie Lorna Fowles (Petaluma, Calif. / Animation) made five saves and had a game high of three ground balls during her 60 minutes of work.
 
WHAT'S NEXT? The Bees advance to the championship game on Saturday, May 6th at 5:00 p.m. where they will play No. 2 Lawrence Tech.
