Men’s Lacrosse Dominates St. Andrews

LAURINBURG, N.C. – The SCAD men's lacrosse team traveled to Laurinburg, N.C. where they competed against St. Andrews University and won 8-2.
 
RECORDS: The Bees advance to 3-8, 2-5 AAC while the Knights are now 1-10, 1-6 AAC.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED: SCAD was the only team to score during the first quarter. The first goal, while the Bees were a man up, came from Max Williams (Irmo, S.C. / Illustration) assisted by Jack Coulombe (Hurst, Texas / Film and Television) at the 12:40 mark. The second came from Jordan Reeves (Mississauga, Ontario, Canada / Architecture) to bring the score to 2-0 going into the second.
 
SCAD was the only ones to score in the second with one goal from Vihaan Patel (Alpharetta, Ga. / Interior Design) at the 3:07 mark to give the Bees the 3-0 lead going into the half.
 
Theron Turnbull (Pittsburgh, Pa. / Architecture) was the only one to score during the third which brought to score to 4-0 going into the fourth.
 
The Bees started the fourth off with a quick goal from Patel and then followed only three minutes later with a goal from Even Baker (Saint Augustine, Fla. / Furniture Design). St. Andrews was able to squeeze a goal in at the 9:03 mark, but was quickly answered by two SCAD goals; the first from Williams assisted by Baker and the second from Baker. The Knights scored one last goal at the 1:54 mark to finish the game with a score of 8-2 in favor of the Bees.
 
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE: Williams, Patel, and Baker each scored two goals with Baker gaining control of two ground balls, one caused turnover, and one assist.
 
Reeves totaled one goal, one ground ball, and one caused turnover followed by Turnbull with one goal.
 
Matt Tolmer (Bridgeville, Pa. / Animation) had a team high of six ground balls and three caused turnovers.
 
Goalie Benny Goldberg (West Bloomfield, Mich. / Industrial Design) totaled 13 saves and one ground ball in his 60 minutes of work.
 
WHAT'S NEXT? The Bees will host Montreat College on Saturday, April 15th for senior day at 1:00 p.m. at the SCAD Athletics Complex.
