HARDEEVILLE, S.C. – The SCAD men's lacrosse team earned a big win on Saturday afternoon against Montreat College winning 18-2 on senior day.
RECORDS: The Bees advance to 4-8, 3-5 AAC while the Cavaliers are now 1-11, 1-7 AAC.
HOW IT HAPPENED: In the first quarter,
Jordan Reeves (Mississauga, Ontario, Canada / Architecture) opened the scoring with a goal just under the nine-minute mark followed by
Max Williams (Irmo, S.C. / Illustration) assisted by
Michael Mowers (Savannah, Ga. / Film and Television) giving SCAD the two-point lead going into the second.
Montreat was able to score twice in the second quarter and was split up by five Bees' goals. The first came from Mowers at the 13:59 mark. The second was from Williams followed by
Evan Baker (Saint Augustine, Fla. / Furniture Design) assisted by Reeves.
The last two were scored only seven seconds apart with Mowers scoring at the 1:07 mark and
Lucas Martinez (Aurora, Ohio / Service Design) scoring to bring the score to 7-2 in favor of SCAD going into the half.
The Bees had a three-goal scoring streak in the third with two from
Seth Leister (Palm Coast, Fla. / User Experience (UX) Design) with one assist from Mowers and the other from
Griffith Long assisted by
Aidan Heuer (Madison, Ala. / Fashion Design) to round the score to 10-2.
SCAD did not stop there as they scored eight consecutive goals in the fourth quarter. Reeves scored the first goal in the quarter followed by one from
Jackson Meyer (Louisville, Ky. / Animation). Leister scored two back-to-back goals only twenty seconds apart with one assist from Reeves.
Mowers was able to score while being a man up when an assist came from Leister at the 10:27 mark.
Javin Shackelford (Miamisburg, Ohio / Film and Television) assisted by
Noah Rivaz (Cypress, Texas / Illustration) only a minute later. The last two goals of the game came from
Jack Coulombe (Hurst, Texas / Film and Television) at the 5:10 mark and Williams assisted by Reeves at the 3:53 mark to bring the final score to 18-2.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE: Leister led the offensive charge with four goals, one assist, one ground ball, and one caused turnover.
Williams and Mowers were able to score three goals each while Reeves had two goals, three ground balls, and three caused turnovers.
Martinez had the team high of eight ground balls and had one goal while
Jake Kozak (Bel Air, Md, / Illustration) had the team high of caused turnovers at five.
Goalie
Benny Goldberg (West Bloomfield, Mich. / Industrial Design) made three saves and took control of two ground balls in his 46 minutes of work. Goalie
Luke Lamendola (Northport, N.Y. / Film and Television) and goalie
Joe DeCeglia (Long Island, Kings Park, N.Y. / Illustration) made one save each in their six and three minutes, respectively.
WHAT'S NEXT? The Bees will be waiting to see where they place in the AAC tournament.
