HARDEEVILLE, S.C. – The No. 7 women's lacrosse team hosted No. 4 Life University on Thursday evening earning their sixth consecutive win, 14-11.
RECORDS: The Bees advance to 7-5, 4-1 SUN while the Running Eagles are now 8-3, 3-2 SUN.
HOW IT HAPPENED: Life started the scoring with two goals two and four minutes into the game. SCAD answered with three goals, the first two from
Clarke Haas (Pensacola, Fla. / Fashion Marketing and Management) with one assisted by
Annise Berkeley (Massillon, Ohio / Architecture) and the third from
Aly De Caro (El Dorado Hills, Calif. / Advertising and Branding) assisted by
Emma Roch (Savannah, Ga. / Fashion Marketing and Management). The Running Eagles were able to score the last goal in the first quarter bringing the score to 3-3.
Life opened the second quarter with two goals but was quickly followed by three Bees' goals. Roch was able to score twice, once at the 8:49 mark and then again at the 4:03 mark assisted by
Brielle Bouchard (Atlantic Beach, Fla. / Fashion Marketing and Management). Haas closed out the second quarter to bring the score to 6-5 going into the half.
In the third quarter, both teams traded goals with the Running Eagles scoring four goals and SCAD scoring five. De Caro assisted by
Keagan Plume (Glen Arm, Md. / Architecture) scored first for the Bees followed quickly by Berkeley assisted by De Caro. Haas was able to score at the 5:11 mark bringing the score to 9-7. Plume assisted by
Ainsley Jones (Harvard, Mass. / Graphic Design) followed only 14 seconds later by
Molly Wilson (Acworth, Ga. / Graphic Design) assisted by Haas to give SCAD the two-point lead of 10-8 going into the final quarter.
Berkeley assisted by Wilson scored the first goal of the fourth quarter with 12:56 on the clock to bring the score to 12-9. The Bees were able to score two last goals, one from
Isabel Verrier (Topsfield, Mass. / Interior Design) and the other from Haas assisted by Plume. Life closed out the game with two goals, but it was not enough. No. 7 SCAD made the upset win over No. 4 Running Eagles, 14-11.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE: Haas led the offensive charge with five goals, two ground balls, and one caused turnover.
Berkeley, De Caro, and Roch each totaled two goals with Roch gaining control of four ground balls and three caused turnovers while Berkeley had one caused turnover and one ground ball.
Plume, Wilson, and Verrier scored one goal each with Plume getting two ground balls and Verrier getting one.
Goalie
Lorna Fowles (Petaluma, Calif. / Animation) totaled 14 saves, three ground balls, and one caused turnover in her 60 minutes of work.
