No. 5 Women’s Lacrosse Wins Big on Senior Day

HARDEEVILLE, S.C. – The No. 5 SCAD women's lacrosse team hosted St. Thomas University on Saturday morning for senior day and won 24-5.
 
RECORDS: The Bees advance to 8-5, 5-1 SUN while the Bobcats are now 4-10, 1-5 SUN.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED: St. Thomas started off the scoring with a goal at the 12:44 mark. SCAD quickly answered with a six-goal streak. The first two came from Annise Berkeley (Massillon, Ohio / Architecture) assisted by Clarke Haas (Pensacola, Fla. / Fashion Marketing and Management) followed only 10 seconds later by Aly De Caro (El Dorado Hill, Calif. / Advertising and Branding).
 
De Caro scored again assisted by Ainsley Jones (Harvard, Mass. / Graphic Design) with Jones assisted by Berkeley for the Bees fifth goal. Haas assisted by Keagan Plume (Glen Arm, Md. / Architecture) finished the scoring streak to give SCAD a five-point lead.
 
The Bobcats scored twice more during the first, but Hass was able to score two more goals with one assisted from Molly Wilson (Acworth, Ga. / Graphic Design) at the 1:17 mark to bring the score to 8-3 going into the second.
 
The Bees were the only ones that scored in the second quarter. Jones assisted by Olivia Jackson (York, Pa. / Fashion) was the first to score at the 13:11 mark followed by two goals from Emma Roch (Savannah, Ga. / Fashion Marketing and Management) with one assist from Jackson and one from Plume.
 
Paige Christoff (Canfield, Ohio / Fashion Design) assisted by Plume scored SCAD's 12th goals which was followed by Wilson assisted by Jackson at the 5:54 mark.
 
Roch was able to score at the 4:35 mark with Berkeley assisted by Wilson with another goal for SCAD. Jones assisted by Wilson scored at the 0:03 mark rounding the score to 16-3 going into the half.
 
The Bees only scored one goal in the third from Haas assisted by Jackson. St. Thomas was able to squeeze in two goals with one at the 8:41 mark and the 0:52 mark to go 17-5 into the fourth.
 
SCAD dominated the fourth quarter by being the only team that scored. De Caro scored at the 14:49 mark followed by Isabelle Corns (McCordsville, Ind. / Animation) assisted by Isabel Verrier (Topsfield, Mass. / Interior Design) with a goal at the 12:53 mark.
 
Jackson assisted by Verrier and Verrier, unassisted, were able to score one goal each bringing the score to 21-5. Jackson was also able to score unassisted followed quickly by Plume assisted by Corns. Kambria Barry (Orlando, Fla. / Architecture) was able to score the last goal of the game at the 1:29 mark bringing the final score to 24-5.
 
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE: Haas led the offensive charge with four goals, and one ground ball.
 
Berkeley, Jones, De Caro, and Roch were able to score three goals each. De Caro took control of six ground balls while Roch took control of three and had three caused turnovers. Jones had one caused turnover and two ground balls.
 
Jackson scored two goals and had four ground balls and two caused turnovers.
 
Goalie Lorna Fowles (Petaluma, Calif. / Animation) made three saves and one ground ball in her 36 minutes in the goal while goalie Chloe Zundel (Santa Clarita, Calif. / Interior Design) took control of one ground ball in her 23 minutes of work.
 
WHAT'S NEXT? The Bees will be hosting the Sun Conference Championship on Friday, April 21 – Saturday, April 22nd at Memorial Stadium in Savannah, Ga.
