BABSON PARK, Fla. – The No. 7 SCAD women's lacrosse gets their sixth win of the season against Webber International University on Saturday, winning 17-11.
RECORDS: The Bees advance to 6-5, 3-1 SUN while the Warriors are now 6-5, 1-3 SUN.
HOW IT HAPPENED: SCAD started the scoring with a goal just past four minutes into the game from
Clarke Haas (Pensacola, Fla. / Fashion Marketing and Management) assisted by
Keagan Plume (Glen Arm, Md. / Architecture). Two more goals followed from
Emma Roch (Savannah, Ga. / Fashion Marketing and Management) assisted by
Ainsley Jones (Harvard, Mass. / Graphic Design) and Haas assisted by
Aly De Caro (El Dorado Hills, Calif. / Advertising and Branding). Webber was able to answer with one goal at the 4:30 mark.
The Bees scored two more goals from Plume and
Olivia Jackson (York, Pa. / Fashion) before the Warriors were able to score once more in the first quarter. Jones assisted by
Annise Berkeley (Massillon, Ohio / Architecture) was able to score at the 1:05 mark being a man up bringing the score to 6-2 at the end of the first quarter.
SCAD and Webber scored equally in the second quarter with four goals each. The first two came from the Bees, Haas and Berkeley only a minute apart. De Caro was able to score at the 5:49 mark followed by two Warrior goals.
Brielle Bouchard (Atlantic Beach, Fla. / Fashion Marketing and Management), unassisted, scored the last goal of the quarter at the 0:01 mark bringing the score to 10-6 going into the half.
SCAD started scoring with three goals at the beginning of the third from Haas, Berkeley, and
Molly Wilson (Acworth, Ga. / Graphic Design). Webber answered with a goal but was soon followed by De Caro assisted by
Isabel Verrier (Topsfield, Mass. / Interior Design) who scored while being a man up at the 7:09 mark.
The Warriors were able to score two more goals, but so did the Bees. A goal from Wilson at the 4:12 mark and a goal from Haas assisted by Roch, who scored while being a man up, wrapped up the third quarter with a score of 16-10.
The fourth quarter was short and sweet with Webber only scoring once at the 12:32 mark and SCAD also only scoring once at the 9:14 mark from Jones assisted by De Caro finishing the score at 17-11.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE: Haas led the offensive charge with five goals, three ground balls and two caused turnovers.
Roch, who had one goal, and
Grace Gibson (Kennesaw, Ga. / Business of Beauty and Fragrance) had the team high of three caused turnovers each.
De Caro led in ground balls with five, but also had two goals and one caused turnover.
Goalie
Lorna Fowles (Petaluma, Calif. / Animation) made four saves in her 36 minutes of work while goalie
Chloe Zundel (Santa Clarita, Calif. / Interior Design) made two saves in her 24 minutes of work.
