AVE MARIA, Fla. – The no. 10 SCAD women's lacrosse team traveled to Ave Maria, Fla. to compete against no. eight Ave Maria University on Thursday afternoon getting their third consecutive win, 20-6.
RECORDS: The Bees advance to 4-5 while the Gyrenes are now 5-5.
HOW IT HAPPENED: SCAD started the scoring off very quickly in the first quarter at the 14:21 mark from
Clarke Haas (Pensacola, Fla. / Fashion Marketing and Management). Haas and
Annise Berkeley (Massillon, Ohio / Architecture) assisted by
Keagan Plume (Glen Arm, Md. / Architecture) were able to score before Ave Maria got two goals under their belt.
The Bees continued to score with goals from Plume,
Emma Roch (Savannah, Ga. / Fashion Marketing and Management) assisted by Berkeley, and Berkeley with the Gyrenes scoring once more in the first. Haas scored one last goal at the 0:06 mark to bring the score to 7-3 going into the second.
Roch scored the first goal of the second followed quickly by one goal from Ave Maria. SCAD was then able to start a scoring streak with
Aly De Caro (El Dorado Hills, Calif. / Advertising and Branding) starting at the 8:32 mark followed by
Kambria Barry (Orlando, Fla. / Architecture). De Caro was able to score two more goals to bring the score to 12-4 going into the half.
The Gyrenes were able to score two goals at the beginning of the third, while the Bees scored four goals. The first was from
Ainsley Jones (Harvard, Mass. / Graphic Design) at the 6:57 mark followed quickly by Haas assisted by Berkeley. Plume scored with Roch scoring at the 2:44 mark rounding out the score to 16-6 at the end of the third.
SCAD dominated the fourth quarter by being the only team that scored. De Caro started off the scoring off for the Bees followed by
Olivia Jackson (York, Pa. / Fashion) assisted by De Caro. Roch was able to score at the 3:48 mark with
Molly Wilson (Acworth, Ga. / Graphic Design) scoring the final goal finishing the score off at 20-6.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE: De Caro, Haas, and Roch scored four goals each with De Caro gaining control of three ground balls and three caused turnovers followed by Haas with three caused turnovers and two ground balls. Roch was able to get two caused turnovers and two ground balls.
Plume and Berkeley totaled two goals each. Plume had two ground balls and one caused turnover while Berkeley had one caused turnover and one ground ball.
Barry scored one goal, gained control of one ground ball, and had two caused turnovers while Jackson scored one goal and had one caused turnover.
Jones and Wilson scored one goal each and Jones was able to get one ground ball.

Lorna Fowles (Petaluma, Calif. / Animation) made eight saves and one ground ball in her 45 minutes of work while goalie
Chloe Zundel (Santa Clarita, Calif. / Interior Design) made one save and one ground ball in her 15 minutes of work.
