Men’s Lacrosse Defeats University of Michigan – Dearborn in Overtime

DEARBORN, Mich. – The SCAD men's lacrosse team defeated University of Michigan – Dearborn in overtime 10-9 on Wednesday night.
 
RECORDS: The Bees are now 2-6 while the Wolverines are 4-3.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED: Michael Mowers (Savannah, Ga. / Film and Television) assisted by Jordan Reeves (Mississauga, Ontario, Canada / Architecture) opened the scoring with a goal at the 14:03 mark. Three more goals from SCAD's Theron Turnbull (Pittsburgh, Pa. / Architecture), Reeves and Seth Leister (Palm Coast, Fla. / User Experience (UX) Design) assisted by Mowers before Michigan – Dearborn were able to score two making the score 4-2 at the end of the first.
 
The Wolverines were the only ones to score in the second bringing the score to 4-3 in favor of the Bees going into half time.
 
Michigan – Dearborn started a scoring streak going into the third quarter with three consecutive goals. SCAD was able to answer with three goals from Max Williams (Irmo, S.C. / Illustration) assisted by Mowers, Reeves assisted by Turnbull, and Leister assisted by Mowers only to be answered by one goal from the Wolverines in the third bringing the score to 7-7.
 
Michigan – Dearborn started the fourth off with a quick goal followed a few minutes later with two goals from Mowers. The Wolverines scored a buzzer beater goal at the 0:01 mark tying the final score to 9-9 causing the teams to go into overtime.
 
In overtime, Evan Baker (Saint Augustine, Fla. / Furniture Design) scored the game winning goal at the 1:04 mark to finish the score at 10-9.
 
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE: Mowers was the Bees top scorer with three goals followed by Reeves (one ground ball) and Leister with two goals each.
 
Baker, Williams, and Turnbull scored one goal each with Bakr getting two ground balls and one caused turnover and Williams and Turnbull getting one ground ball each.
 
Lucas Martinez (Aurora, Ohio / Service Design) was able to take control of seven ground balls and had one caused turnover.
 
Goalie Benny Goldberg (West Bloomfield, Mich. / Industrial Design) totaled 10 saves and three ground balls in his 63 minutes of work.
 
WHAT'S NEXT? The Bees will travel to Livonia, Mich. on Thursday, March 23rd to compete against No. RV Madonna University at 3:00 p.m.
