HARDEEVILLE, S.C. – The No. 5 SCAD women's soccer team suffered its first loss of the season to No. 18 St. Thomas on Wednesday.
RECORDS: The Bees are now 13-1-1, 9-1-1 SUN, while the Bobcats are now 10-2-2, 7-2-2 SUN.
HOW IT HAPPENED: St. Thomas started the scoring, one minute into the game to take a quick 1-0 lead.
Sydney Chura tied the game 20 minutes later when she got the ball just past half field and beat her defender to take it down the right side of the field. At about 22 yards out, Chura took a high shot and put it over the goalie and into the left of the net.
At the 32:50 mark, the Bobcats scored their second goal of the game to take a 2-1 lead, a lead that remained into halftime.
Neither team scored for the remainder of the game as St. Thomas held on for the 2-1 win.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE: Sydney Chura led the offense for the Bees with one goal in two shots on goal.
Mia Nelson took three shots, all on goal, while
Ida Akesson totaled two shots on goal.
