No. 5 Women’s Soccer Picks Up Ninth Shutout Win

AVE MARIA, Fla. – The No. 5 SCAD women's soccer team picked up its ninth shutout of the season with 1-0 win over Ave Maria on Saturday.
 
RECORDS: The Bees remain undefeated with a record of 13-0-1, 9-0-1 SUN, while the Gyrenes are now 4-5-4, 2-5-3 SUN.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED: Despite both teams taking nine shots each in the first half, neither team scored, going into halftime tied at zero-all.
 
In the 65th minute, Jule Stendebach intercepted the ball in the midfield, and then played a perfect through ball on the ground to an on running Sydney Chura who fired it past the approaching goalie to give SCAD the 1-0 lead, and ultimately the win.
 
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE: Chura led the offense with one goal on two shots on goal while Jule Stendebach added an assist.
 
Abigail Siddall had two shots on goal while Ines Sommer and Abbie Biddle totaled one shot on goal each.
 
Goalie Katelynn Balsiger totaled six saves in her 90 minutes of work.
