No. 18 Women’s Soccer Blanks Wolves in Season Opener

MILWAUKEE, Wis. – The No. 18 SCAD women's soccer team opened the season with a 6-0 win over Cardinal Stritch on Thursday.
 
RECORDS
  • The Bees start the season off with a record of 1-0.
  • The Stritch Wolves are 0-1.
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • SCAD's defense held Cardinal Stritch to zero goals and zero shots during both halves.
  • The Bees took a 1-0 lead at the one-minute mark when Sydney Chura (Milford, Mich. / Fibers) found the back of the net off an assist from Sam Wong (Fort Worth, Texas / Interior Design).
  • Five and a half minutes later, Abigail Siddall (Plymouth, Mich. / Film and Television) scored her first goal off an assist from Filippa Bjare (Saltsjobaden, Stockholm, Sweden / Architecture) to give SCAD the 2-0 lead.
  • Neither team scored for the remainder of the half.
  • In the first 23 seconds of the second half, a ball was played through Cardinal Stritch's center backs to an on running Mia Gomez (Austin, Texas / Graphic Design / Advertising and Branding. Gomez took it around the keeper and slotted it home.
  • Shortly after two-minutes, Berglind Baldursdottir (Kopavogur, Iceland / Architecture) stood over a free kick, 25 yards out, and hit it into the back post's upper ninety.
  • Siddall scored her second goal just as the time reached the 58-minute mark.
  • The last goal of the game, in the 73rd minute, was scored as Lane Lieberman  (Chevy Chase, Md. / Visual Communication) was assisted by Chura, giving the Bees the 6-0 win.

  • Siddall led the Bees with two goals on four shots.
  • Chura totaled one goal on two shots with one assist. Gomez totaled one goal on one shot. Baldursdottir totaled one goal on five shots. Lieberman totaled one goal on three shots.
