Women’s Lacrosse Dominates 27-3 Over Truett McConnell on Senior Day

HARDEEVILLE, S.C. – The No. 3 SCAD women's lacrosse team hosted Truett McConnell University on Saturday for Senior Day.

RECORDS: The Bees improve to 10-2, 7-0 ACC while the Bears are now 2-8, 2-5 ACC.

HOW IT HAPPENED:  The Bears scored first going into the first three minutes of the first quarter. The Bees answered a goal from Aly De Caro (El Dorado Hills, Calif. / Advertising and Branding) assisted by Sophia Milia (Birmingham, Mich. / Business of Beauty & Fragrance) bringing the score to a tie at 1-1. Just a minute later, Tatum Crouch (Easton, Md. / Fashion and Marketing and Management) found the back of the net for the Bees to take a one point lead.

To wrap up the first quarter De Caro was able to score unassisted followed by Crouch scoring a buzzer beater goal at the 14:58 mark.

Going into the second quarter with the score of 5-1, Clarke Haas (Pensacola, Fla. / Fashion Marketing and Management) scored within 0:59 of the quarter starting. Her goal was then followed by Isabelle Corns (McCordsville, Ind. / Animation) bringing the score to 6-1. Haas then scored again assisted by Olivia Jackson (York, Pa. / Fashion).

Truett McConnell answered the Bees consecutive goals with one at half way into the quarter bringing the score to 7-2.

SCAD did not let this goal go unnoticed; Keagan Plume (Glen Arm, Md. / Architecture), Haas, and Darby Thomas (Easton, Md. / Social Strategy and Management) all scored within seconds of each other to bring the score to 10-2.

The Bears then scored their final goal of the game at the 09:00 mark.

The Bees then scored three more goals from Brielle Bouchard (Atlantic Beach, Fla. / Fashion Marketing and Mangement), De Caro assisted by Milia, and Mackenzie DeMott (Dix Hills, N.Y. / Fashion) assisted by Julia Luff (Portsmouth, N.H. / Fibers). De Caro assisted by Luff was able to score another nail biter goal at the end of the second quarter at the 14:55 mark to elevate the score to 14-3.
De Caro assisted by Milia, Milia, Grace Boyer (Stevensville, Md. / Interior Design), Hannah Smith (Vienna, Va. / Illustration) assisted by Milia, DeMott assisted by Luff, and Luff totaled six goals in the third quarter to take a 20-3 lead going into the fourth quarter.

The Bees were able to wrap up the fourth quarter with a total of seven goals against the Bears. Luff (2), Boyer assisted by DeMott, Crouch (3), and DeMott assisted by Boyer to clinch the win for SCAD.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE: Crouch and De Caro had a big game with both scoring five of the goals for the Bees.

Milia totaled a game-high four assists and was able to score one for a total of five points.

Luff was able to receive six points by scoring three goals and totaling three assists; she also picked up seven draw controls along the way.

Crouch, Boyer, Smith, and Katie MacMahon (Warrenton, Va. / Performing Arts) totaled 2 ground balls each during the match.

Sydney Bowers (Lake Worth, Fla. / Film and Television) led the team with three caused turnovers followed by nine players totaling one each.

Goalie Tracy Richards (Poway, Calif. / Visual Effects) made seven saves in her sixty minutes of work. 

WHAT'S NEXT? The Bees will travel on April 14th for the first round of The Appalachian Athletic Conference Championship.
