Box Score WALESKA, Ga. – The No. 3 SCAD women's lacrosse team traveled to Waleska, Ga. to play Montreat College at the semifinals of the Appalachian Athletic Conference Championships on Friday.
RECORDS: The Bees are now 11-2, 7-0 ACC while the Cavaliers are now 10-7, 4-3 ACC.
HOW IT HAPPENED: The Bees started off their scoring streak with
Aly De Caro (2)
(El Dorado Hills, Calif. / Advertising and Branding) assisted by
Julia Luff (2)
(Portsmouth, N.H. / Fibers) finding the back of the net quickly at the 13 second mark. SCAD continued the streak with goals from De Caro assisted by
Hannah Smith (Vienna, Va. / Illustration), Smith,
Clarke Haas (2)
(Pensacola, Fla. / Fashion Marketing and Management) assisted twice by
Sophia Milia (Birmingham, Mich. / Business of Beauty & Fragrance) and Luff. These goals brought the Bees to a 6-0 lead with only five minutes left in the quarter.
Montreat scored two goals which was then quickly answered by
Tatum Crouch (Easton, Md. / Fashion Marketing and Management) assisted by Milia.
The Cavaliers were able to squeeze in one last goal during the last minute of the quarter, but SCAD would not let that be the final goal scored wrapping up the first quarter. Crouch assisted by Milia was able to score at the 0:19 mark finishing the quarter with SCAD leading 8-3.
Molly Wilson (Acworth, Ga. / Graphic Design) was able to score twice once assisted by
Mackenzie DeMott (Dix Hills, N.Y. / Fashion) scoring the first two goals for the Bees going into the second quarter. The SCAD goals were broken up by two Montreat goals which ending up being the only goals they scored during the quarter.
SCAD with a lead of 10-5 started another streak with goals from DeMott assisted by
Brielle Bouchard (Atlantic Beach, Fla. / Fashion Marketing and Management),
Grace Boyer (Stevensville, Md. / Interior Design), and DeMott assisted by
Isabelle Corns (McCordsville, Ind. / Animation). Bouchard came in hot scoring three goals seconds apart assisted once by
Olivia Jackson (York, Pa. / Fashion) and again by Corns.
Ainsley Jones (Harvard, Mass. / Graphic Design) scored the final goal of the quarter bringing the Bees lead up to 17-5.
Opening up the third quarter, De Caro assisted by Milia, Haas, and
Keagan Plume (Glen Arm, Md. / Architecture) assisted by De Caro gave SCAD the break over into the 20's bringing the score up to 20-5. Montreat answered the goals with one at the 07:17 mark. The Bees were not afraid to put a few more away from Crouch (2) assisted by Plume once.
The Cavaliers score twice more at the end of the quarter, but Crouch assisted by Milia were fast to score one last goal at the 0:21 seconds mark wrapping up the third quarter with a score of 23-8.
The Bees were able to finish the fourth quarter with a total of three goals from Jackson, Corns assisted by Bouchard, and Jones assisted by Jackson which allowed SCAD their final score of 26.
Montreat was able to slip past the Bees one more time bringing their score to 9.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE: Crouch had a big game scoring five of the Bees goals giving her five points and also picked up eight ground balls and six draw controls on the way.
De Caro (4), Bouchard (3), and Haas (3) were the next leaders in goals for SCAD. De Caro also had two ground balls and one assist in the game. Bouchard totaled two assists and one ground ball, while Haas picked up two ground balls.
Milia (5) and Luff (3) led the team in assists. Luff was also able to pick up six ground balls followed close by Smith who had four.
Plume, Jones, and
Sydney Bowers (Lake Worth, Fla. / Film and Television) gave the Bees the team total of three caused turnovers.
Goalie
Tracy Richards (Poway, Calif. / Visual Effects) made nine saves in her sixty minutes of work.
