HARDEEVILLE, S.C. – The SCAD woman's lacrosse team increased its 20+ goal win-streak to four games with a 20-2 win over the visiting Cougars from Chatham University on Sunday.
RECORDS: The Bees are now 4-1 while the Cougars are 1-1 overall.
HOW IT HAPPENED: SCAD opened the game with six goals from three athletes –
Sophia Milia (Birmingham, Mich. / Business of Beauty & Fragrance) (2),
Tatum Crouch (Easton, Md. / Fashion Marketing and Management) and
Clarke Haas (Pensacola, Fla. / Fashion Marketing and Management) (3) – to take a 6-0 lead into the second quarter.
The Bees opened the second quarter with goals from
Isabel Verrier (Topsfield, Mass. / Interior Design) and
Molly Wilson (Acworth, Ga. / Graphic Design) off an assist from Verrier to go up 8-0 before the Cougars got on the board with a goal at the 9:36 mark to bring the score to 8-1.
Ainsley Jones (Harvard, Mass. / Graphic Design), off an assist from
Isabelle Corns (McCordsville, Ind. / Animation), scored with 4:31 on the clock in the second quarter to go up 9-1. Chatham's last goal of the game came with just under four minutes remaining in the first half which brought the score to 9-2.
Grace Wiley (Olathe, Kan. / Interior Design),
Grace Boyer (Stevensville, Md. / Interior Design) and Jones scored a goal each to end the second quarter with a 12-2 lead.
Crouch,
Julia Luff (Portsmouth, N.H. / Fibers) and Haas (2) scored four goals in the third quarter to go up 16-2.
In the fourth quarter, Milia, Verrier,
Olivia Jackson (York, Pa. / Fashion) and
Mackenzie DeMott (Dix Hills, N.Y. / Fashion) found the back of the net to earn the 20-2 win.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE: SCAD went 17-17 on clears and totaled 16 draw controls to Chatham's nine.
Haas and Milia earned a game-high six points with Haas totaling five goals and one assist and Milia tallying three goals and three assists.
Verrier totaled two goals and three assists for five points while Crouch and Jones added two goals each.
Luff, Wiley, Boyer, Wilson, Jackson and DeMott totaled one goal apiece with Luff and Wiley adding one assist.
Keagan Plume (Glen Arm, Md. / Architecture) totaled a team-high four draw controls and two ground balls. Smith,
Sydney Bowers (Lake Worth, Fla. / Film and Television) and Verrier caused two turnovers each.
Goalies
Tracy Richards (Poway, Calif. / Visual Effects), Kallie Collett (Voorhees, N.J. / Fashion Design) and
Veronica Grega (York, Pa. / Fashion) shared time in the cage with Richards totaling two saves and Grega adding one.
