HARDEEVILLE, S.C. – The No. 7 SCAD women's lacrosse team won its third consecutive 20+ goal game at home on Saturday when the Bees totaled 26 goals in the 26-6 win over Montreat College.
RECORDS: The Bees are now 3-1, 2-0 AAC while the Cavaliers are now 4-4, 0-2 AAC.
DID YOU KNOW? This is the third-straight game in which SCAD has scored more than 20 goals. Against Pfeiffer, the Bees scored 21 goals, against Tennessee Wesleyan SCAD scored 23 goals to go along with today's 26 goals.
With
Aly De Caro's (El Dorado Hills, Calif. / Advertising and Branding) first goal of the game, the senior earned her 100th career point.
HOW IT HAPPENED? SCAD kept Montreat to only two goals per quarter except in the second when they did not allow a single goal.
Hannah Smith (Vienna, Va. / Illustration) and De Caro scored the first two goals of the game to give SCAD a quick 2-0 lead with 12:30 remaining in the first quarter.
Montreat cut the lead in half at the 12:02 mark but SCAD answered with goals from
Julia Luff (Portsmouth, N.H. / Fibers),
Clarke Haas (Pensacola, Fla. / Fashion Marketing and Management) and
Kegan Plume (Glen Arm, Md. / Architecture) off assists from
Sophia Milia (Birmingham, Mich. / Busines of Beauty & Fragrance) and
Tatum Crouch (Easton, Md. / Fashion Marketing and Management) to go up 5-1. Three more goals in the first quarter, two from SCAD – Crouch and De Caro – and one from Montreat ended the first quarter with a Bees' 7-2 lead.
SCAD held the Cavaliers scoreless in the second quarter and scored six goals from five players –
Olivia Jackson (York, Pa. / Fashion),
Grace Boyer (Stevensville, Md. / Interior Design),
Isabel Verrier (Topsfield, Mass. / Interior Design),
Emma Roch (Long Island, N.Y. / Fashion Marketing and Management) (2) and
Mackenzie DeMott (Dix Hills, N.Y. / Fashion) –to take 13-2 lead into halftime.
Luff, Haas and De Caro, off assists from Milia, opened the third quarter with three goals to go up 16-3 before Montreat scored two goals and SCAD added another one to bring the score to 17-4.
Two more goals, one from Crouch and one from
Isabelle Corns (McCordsville, Ind. / Animation), gave the Bees a 19-4 lead going into the fourth quarter.
SCAD scored the first seven goals in the fourth quarter when Corns (2),
Molly Wilson (Acworth, Ga. / Graphic Design), Boyer,
Brielle Bouchard (Atlantic Beach, Fla. / Fashion Marketing and Management) (2) and Luff found the back of the net to go up 26-4 before the Cavaliers scored the last two goals to bring the scores of 26-6.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE: The Bees went 16-16 in clears, totaled nine ground balls and won 20 draw controls.
Milia helped lead the offense with five assists for a game-high five points.
Boyer totaled two goals and two assists for four points while Haas, De Caro and Luff totaled three goals apiece.
Crouch, Bouchard, Smith, Corns and Roch added two goals each with Crouch and Bouchard tallying one assist as well.
Verrier had one goal and three assists for four points while Wilson, De Mott, Plume and Jackson added one goal, each. Wilson and DeMott totaled two and one assists, respectively.
Goalies
Tracy Richards (Poway, Calif. / Visual Effects) and
Kallie Collett (Voorhees, N.J. / Fashion Design) split time in the cage with Richards totaling seven saves and Collett six.
