Men’s Lacrosse Drops 22-6 Decision to No. 3 Cumberlands

WILLIAMSBURG, Ky. – The SCAD men's lacrosse team dropped a 22-6 decision to No. 3 the University of the Cumberlands on the road Wednesday evening.
 
RECORDS: The Bees are now 2-4, 2-3 AAC while the Patriots improve to 7-1, 4-0.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED: SCAD jumped on the board early with a goal from Evan Baker (Saint Augustine, Fla. / Furniture Design) at the 14:33 mark. Unfortunately, Cumberlands answered with two goals to go up 2-1.
 
With 8:10 remaining in the first quarter Max Williams (Irmo, S.C. / Illustration) scored off an assist from Michael Mowers (Savannah, Ga. / Film and Television) to knot the game at two-all.
 
The Patriots scored two more goals in the first quarter to lead 4-2 going into the second quarter.
 
Mowers scored the only goal for the Bees in the second quarter off an assist from Williams as Cumberlands totaled 10 goals to take a 14-3 lead into the half.
 
Williams, Bryant Aquino (Cincinnati, Ohio / Photography), and Baker scored SCAD's three goals in the third quarter as the Bees held Cumberlands to three goals to bring the score to 17-6.
 
The Patriots scored five more goals in the fourth quarter to win 22-6.
 
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE: Williams and Baker totaled two goals each while Aquino and Mowers totaled one, with Williams and Mowers adding one assist.
 
Aquino tied a game-high seven ground balls and caused three turnovers. Kevin Curry (Sandy Hook, Conn. / User Experience (UX) Design totaled six ground balls and went 16-31 in face-offs.
 
Goalie Benny Goldberg (West Bloomfield, Mich. / Industrial Design) totaled eight saves while Ross Wiseman (Loveland, Ohio / Animation) captured seven.
 
WHAT'S NEXT? The Bees remain on the road to face No. 4 Keiser University on Friday, April 1 at 2:00 p.m.
