Men’s Lacrosse Takes Down Point 21-4

HARDEEVILLE, S.C. – The SCAD men's lacrosse team dominated on Saturday, winning 21-4 over the visiting Skyhawks of Point University.

RECORDS: The Bees are now 1-2, 1-2 AAC while the Skyhawks are 0-6, 0-4 AAC.

HOW IT HAPPENED: Jordan Reeves (Mississauga, Ontario, Canada / Architecture) opened the scoring with a goal just over a minute into the first quarter to give SCAD a 1-0 lead. Point answered with a goal of their own at the 12:24 mark.

The Bees scored three unanswered goals from Jack Coulombe (Hurst, Texas / Film and Television) (Reeves), Evan Baker (Saint Augustine, Fla. / Furniture Design) and Patrick Aherne (Charleston, S.C. / Animation) (Reeves) to give the Bees a 4-1 lead going into the second quarter.

Point started the scoring charge in the second quarter but SCAD answered with six goals from Seth Leister (Palm Coast, Fla. / User Experience (UX) Design) (3), Aherne and Javin Shackleford (Miamisburg, Ohio / Film and Television) to go up 10-4 going into the half.

The Bees held the Skyhawks scoreless for the remainder of the game as Aherne, Leister (3), Coulombe (3), Shackelford, Banks Maynard (Harrisburg, N.C. / Motion Media Design), Aidan Heuer (Madison, Ala. / Fashion Design) and Theron Turnbull (Pittsburgh, Pa. / Architecture) combined for 11 goals in the second half to give SCAD the 21-4 win.

INSIDE THE BOXSCORE: Leister led the offensive charge with six goals and three assists for nine points. Coulombe totaled four goals while Aherne tallied three.

Shackelford and Reeves totaled two goals with Reeves adding five assists for seven points. Shackelford had two assists while Heuer, Maynard, Turnbull and Baker totaled one goal. Heuer, Baker and Dalton Rice (Palm Coast, Fla. / Production Design) added one assist each.

Kevin Curry (Sandy Hook, Conn. / User Experience (UX) Design) went 27-29 on the face off and tallied a game-high nine ground balls. Luca Colafella (Pittsburgh, Pa. / Dramatic Writing) and Benny Goldberg (West Bloomfield, Mich. / Industrial Design) totaled a game-high three caused turnovers as the Bees as a team totaled 15.

Goldberg totaled seven saves in his 45 minutes in the goal. Ross Wiseman (Loveland, Ohio / Animation) totaled two saves in 15 minutes of work.

WHAT'S NEXT? The Bees will host Webber International in a non-conference match-up on Sunday February 17 at 1:00 p.m.
