Men’s Lacrosse Drops 11-9 Decision to St. Andrews

HARDEEVILLE, S.C. – The SCAD men's lacrosse team hosted St. Andrews University on Sunday and fell 11-9.
 
RECORDS: The Bees are now 0-2, 0-2 AAC while the Knights are 2-0, 2-0 AAC.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED: SCAD jumped to a quick 3-0 lead from goals by Jordan Reeves (Mississauga, Ontario, Canada / Architecture), Evan Baker (Saint Augustine, Fla. / Furniture Design) and Jack Coulombe (Hurst, Texas / Film and Television) with the last coming with 8:58 on the clock in the first quarter.
 
St. Andrews scored with just over eight minutes remaining in the quarter to come within two (3-1) but Baker scored his second goal of the game at 4:18 to give the Bees a 4-1 lead going into the second quarter.
 
Baker opened the second quarter with a goal not even two minutes in to give SCAD a 5-1 lead. The Knights Answered with one of their own at the 8:46 mark but Seth Leister (Palm Coast, Fla. / User Experience (UX) Design) score two minutes later to bring the score to 6-2. St. Andrews answered with two unanswered goals to come within two (6-4) going into halftime.
 
St. Andrews opened the third quarter scoring five goals to take a 9-6 lead before the Bees answered with goals from Reeves and Patrick Aherne (Charleston, S.C. / Animation) to come within one (9-8) heading into the last quarter.
 
SCAD scored one goal – Reeves – in the fourth quarter to St. Andrews's two to fall 11-9.
 
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE: Reeves and Baker totaled three goals each with Leister, Coulombe and Aherne adding one each.
 
Jake Kozak (Bel Air, Md. / Illustration) totaled one assist while Leister and Bryant Aquino (Cincinnati, Ohio / Photography) tallied one. Aquino added a game-high six ground balls while Leister, Baker and Noah Rivaz (Cypress, Texas / Illustration) had two apiece.
 
Kozak totaled a team-high three caused turnovers with Dalton Rice (Palm Coast, Fla. / Production Design) caused two.
 
Goalie Benny Goldberg (West Bloomfield, Mich. / Industrial Design) totaled 12 saves in his 59:45 minutes of work.
 
WHAT'S NEXT? The Bees remain at home to host Point University on Saturday, February 12 at 12:00 p.m.
