Women’s Lacrosse Topples NCAA DIII Pfeiffer University

HARDEEVILLE, S.C. – The SCAD women's lacrosse team opened the home season with a 21-1 win over NCAA DIII Pfeiffer University on Saturday.
 
RECORDS: The Bees are now 1-1 to open the season while the Falcons are now 0-2 overall.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED: SCAD jumped to a quick 6-0 lead with goals from Tatum Crouch (Easton, Md. / Fashion Marketing and Management), Aly De Caro (elDorado Hille, Calif. / Advertising and Branding) (2), Julia Luff (Portsmouth, N.H. / Fibers) and Clarke Haas (Pensavola, Fla. / Fashion Marketing and Management) (2) with De Caro's second goal coming with 10:49 on the clock in the first quarter.
 
Crouch, Keagan Plume (Glen Arm, Md. / Architecture), Isabel Verrier (Topsfield, Mass. / Interior Design), Hannah Smith (Vienna, Va. / Illustration) and Luff scored another five goals total to give the Bees a 11-0 lead going into the second quarter.
 
SCAD scored another five goals – Verrier, Emma Roch (Long Island, N.Y. / Fashion Marketing and Management), Mackenzie DeMott (Dix Hills, N.Y. / Fashion), Isabelle Corns (McCordsville, Ind. / Animation) and Oliva Jackson (York, Pa. / Fashion) – in the second quarter to go into the half up 16-0.
 
In the third quarter, Grace Boyer (Stevensville, Md. / Interior Design) scored the lone SCAD goal as the Falcons scored one of their own to bring the score to 17-1 heading into the final quarter.
 
Luff, Roch, Plume and Jackson combined to score the remaining four goals in the fourth quarter to give the Bees the 21-1 win.
 
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE: Luff led the scoring with three goals while seven other scored two goals each.
 
Sophia Milia (Birmingham, Mich. / Business of Beauty & Fragrance) led all players with four assists while Boyer and Verrier totaled two and five players added one assist.
 
Crouch and Boyer had a game-high four ground balls while Verrier, Sydney Bowers (Lake Worth, Fla. / Film and Television), Kambria Barry (Orlando, Fla. / Architecture) and Kendall Morfis (Bayville, N.Y. / Fashion) totaled two ground balls each.
 
Crouch added a game-high four caused turnovers while Boyer and Bowers added two.
 
Goalies, Tracy Richards (Poway, Calif. / Visual Effects), Veronica Grega (York, Pa. / Fashion) and Kallie Collett (Voorhees, N.J. / Fashion Design) split time in the cage with Collett totaling two saves and Richards one.
 
WHAT'S NEXT? The Bees will travel to Tennessee Wesleyan on Wednesday, March 2 for a 1:00 p.m. game.
