HARDEEVILLE, S.C. – The SCAD men's lacrosse team opened the season at home against No. 1 Reinhardt University and lost 21-6.
RECORDS: The Bees are 0-1, 0-1 AAC while the Eagles are now 1-0, 1-0 AAC.
HAT TRICK: Evan Baker (Saint Augustine, Fla. / Furniture Design) scored three goals in his first collegiate game and assisted on one goal for a total of four points to open the season
HOW IT HAPPENED: Dalton Rice (Palm Coast, Fla. / Production Design) scored the first goal of the game off an assist from Baker to take an early 1-0 lead. Reinhardt answered with four goals in the first quarter to go up 4-1.
The Bees scored their second goal of the game when
Jordan Reeves (Mississauga, Ontario, Canada / Architecture) found the back of the net with 9:10 on the clock in the second quarter. Unfortunately, Reinhardt scored four more goals to go up 8-2 going into halftime.
Despite scoring three goals in the third quarter – Baker (2),
Seth Leister (Palm Coast, Fla. / User Experience (UX) Design) – the Eagles scored six of their own to go up 14-5.
Baker scored his third goal of the game with 54 seconds remaining to put the score at 21-6.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE: Baker led the scoring charge with three goals and one assist for four points.
Reeves, Rice and Leister totaled one goal each with Reeves picking up one assist as well.
Aiden Heuer (Madison, Ala. / Fashion Design) led the team in caused turnovers with two while six other players totaled one.
Goalie,
Benny Goldberg (West Bloomfield, Mich. / Industrial Design) totaled 14 saves in his 60 minutes of work.
