Men’s Cross Country Second at SUN Championship

HARDEEVILLE, S.C. – The SCAD men's cross country team is the Runner-Up in this year's Sun Conference Championship.
 
TEAM RESULTS: The Bees finished in second place with a score of 59 points. Southeastern won the event with a score of 32 points.
 
ALL-CONFERENCE HONORS: SCAD named two runners to the First-Team All-Conference and one runner to the Second-Team All-Conference.
 
First-Team All-Conference runners included Tomoki Scharber (Mill Valley, Calif. / Accessory Design), who finished in second with a time of 25:05.6, while Carson Philbin (Charlotte, N.C. / Social Strategy and Management) finished in sixth with a time of 25:22.6.
 
With a time of 25:45.0, David Fuller (Portland, Ore. / Industrial Design) finished in 11th, which placed him on the All-Conference Second Team.

Shammah Dosunmu (Carmel, Ind. / Fashion Design) - 23rd (26:38.0)
Will Travis (Colorado Springs, Colo. / Film and Television) - 26th (26:48.6)
Daniel Garza (Katy, Texas / Fashion Design) – 41st (27:34.2)
Jake Smith (Sand Springs, Okla. / Accessory Design) – 43rd (27:45.7)
Kaid Boehm (Signal Mountain, Tenn.) – 44th (27:58.0)
Austin Joseph (McDonald, Pa. / Visual Effects) – 52nd (28:49.4)
Jake Hays (Young Wood, Pa. / Animation) – 62nd (31:19.2)
Chris Perez (Algonquin, Ill. / Film and Television) – 63rd (31:33.9)
Joey Zizza (Amesbury, Mass. / Film and Television) – 66th (32:58.6)

SUN CONFERENCE ALL-ACADEMIC HONORS: Six men's cross country athletes were named to the SUN All-Academic Team. To earn this honor, an athlete must have a cumulative GPA of 3.50, and SCAD led the way with a combined 14 athletes between the men's and women's team. The following athletes earned this honor: Sam Doejaaren, Chris Filipowicz, David Fuller, Chris Perez, Carson Philbin, and Will Travis.
 
WHAT'S NEXT? With their finishes, Scharber and Philbin will compete as individuals at the NAIA National Championship.
