Box Score NICHOLASVILLE, Ky. – The No. 6 SCAD women's tennis team earned a win against No. 16 Cumberlands in the first round of the NAIA National Indoor Championship to open the season.
 
RECORDS: The Bees are now 1-0 to open the season while the Patriots are now 1-2.
 
DOUBLES POINT: SCAD's first point came when the Bees won two of the three doubles matches to earn the doubles point. The number one team of Sukkanha and Yu won 6-4 while the number two doubles team of Piccoliori and Llompart won 6-1.
 
The number three doubles team of Botsford and Tilk Tobrand were up 6-5 when the point was won.
 
SINGLES ACTION: Yue Yu (Dalian, China / Illustration) won the first singles point when she defeated her number two singles opponent 6-2, 6-0.
 
Alessia Piccoliori (S.Cristina (BZ), Italy / Graphic Design) won the third point of the day at number three singles with her 6-1, 6-2 win.
 
Francina Llompart (Palma De Mallorca, Spain / Interior Design) clinched the match with her 6-3, 5-7, 6-3 win at number four singles.
 
Nicole Katzarkov (Germantown, Tenn. / Preservation Design) and Britain Botsford (Delray Beach, Fla. / Film and Television) lost 6-4, 2-6, 1-6 and 0-6, 2-6 in the numbers five and six singles, respectively.
 
Priya Sukkanha (Nothaburi, Thailand / Fashion Marketing and Management) was up 3-6, 6-3, 4-2 when the match was won.
