Late Goals Lead to Tie for No. RV Women’s Soccer

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – The No. RV SCAD women's soccer team traveled to No. 23 St. Thomas University and tied 2-2 Thursday night.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Bees totaled five shots to the Bobcats' 10 in the first half, yet neither team scored until late into the second half.
  • Sydney Chura (Milford, Mich.) scored the first goal of the game off an assist from Berglind Baldursdottir (Kopavogur, Iceland / Architecture) to give SCAD a 1-0 lead at the 65:13 mark.
  • Two minutes later, St. Thomas tied the game with a goal of their own.
  • Chura found the back of the net again, this time off an assist from Emily Miller (Apex, N.C. / Advertising and Branding) to give SCAD the lead (2-1) for the second time.
  • Unfortunately, the Bobcats tied the game once and for all in the 88th minute to force overtime.
  • Despite taking three shots over the two overtime periods to St. Thomas's two, the game ended in a 2-2 tie.

  • Chura led the way for the Bees, totaling two goals and six shots, all on goal.
  • Baldursdottir totaled three shots, two on goal and one assist with Miller adding one assist and two shots.
  • Abigail Siddall (Plymouth, Mich. / Film and Television) totaled six shots (three on goal), while Ines Summer (Lisbon, Portugal / Film and Television) and Natalia Zapata (Suwanee, Ga. / Fashion Marketing and Management) totaled two and one shot, respectively.
