Men’s Soccer Opens Sun Conference Play with 1-1 Tie

BABSON PARK, Fla. – The SCAD men's soccer team traveled to Babson Park, Fla. for the first Sun Conference (SUN) game of the season and is coming home with a tie with Webber International University.

  • The Bees are now 2-2-4, 0-0-1 SUN.
  • The Warriors are now 6-1-1, 0-0-1 SUN.
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • A corner kick in the seventh minute led to SCAD scoring the first goal of the game when Giovanny Lares found the back of the net to give the Bees a 1-0 lead.
  • Neither team scored for almost 35 minutes as the Warriors nabbed a goal off a deflection to knot the game at one-all.
  • The first half ended with neither team taking another shot.
  • The Bees took seven shots in the second half with the last chance to score in regulation coming from Jesus Ulloa (Savannah, Ga. / Graphic Design) at the 85:39 mark.
  • Despite only allowing one shot in each overtime period, and SCAD taking seven total shots, neither team scored, and the game ended with a score of 1-1.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
  • Lares scored the only goal for the Bees on three shots, one on goal.
  • Phillip Holtgen (Munich, Germany / Industrial Design) totaled fieve shots, three on goal while J. Ulloa and Jin Kim (Glen Allen, Va. / Interior Design) tallied three shots each.
  • Goalie Connor Friel (Ballymena, Northern Ireland / Advertising and Branding) nabbed six saves in his 110 minutes of work.
