QUICK SCORE: After missing the 2020 season due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the SCAD women's soccer team returned to action with a 4-1 win over the visiting Tennessee Wesleyan Bulldogs.
 
DID YOU KNOW? All four of SCAD's goals came from athletes playing in their first collegiate game. Ines Sommer (Lisbon, Portugal / Film and Television) and Sam Wong (Fort Worth, Texas / Interior Design) totaled one goal each while Sydney Chura (Milford, Mich. / Undeclared) scored two.
 
 RECORDS: The Bees are now 1-0 while the Bulldogs are 0-1.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED: Tennessee Wesleyan opened the scoring with a goal in the 12^th minute.
 
SCAD answered at the 31:14 mark when Sommer found the back of the net off an assist from Nina Otto (McLean, Va. / User Experience (UX) Design). Neither team scored for the remainder of the half to go into halftime tied at one-all.
 
With just over 20 minutes remaining in the game, a lightning delay caused a 45-minute break in which the Bees came back ready to go.
 
Despite going down a player, the Bees dominated the remaining 20 minutes of action as Wong scored her first collegiate winning goal in the 77^th minute to give SCAD a 2-1 lead.
 
Back-to-back goals from Chura, one assisted by Berglind Baldursdottir (Kopavogur, Iceland / Architecture), gave the Bees the 4-1 win.
 
BOX SCORE: Chura led the offensive charge with two goals, nine shots – six on goal – while Baldursdottir totaled two assists.
 
Sommer and Wong tallied one goal each with Otto adding an assist.
 
Eliana Charalambous (Manassas, Va. / Graphic Design) and Paige Hickman (Aurora, Colo. / Animation) shared time in the goal with both nabbing one.
