QUICK HIT: The No. 5 women's tennis team defeated No. 17 Ave Maria 7-0 on Thursday while the men lost 6-1 to the No. 23 Gyrenes.
SENIOR DAY: Prior to the start of the matches, the three graduating members –
Sebastian Nunez (Mexico City, Mexico / Furniture Design),
Jordan Tenebaum (Alexandria, Va. / Film and Television),
Eika Johanna Weber (Oslo, Norway / Industrial Design) – of both the men's and women's teams were honored.
RECORDS: The women finish the regular season, 5-1, 5-1 TSC while the men are 1-6, 1-6 TSC. Ave Maria's women are now 9-4, 4-2 TSC while the men are 8-5, 4-3 TSC.
WOMEN'S RESULTS: The Bees started the day quick, winning all three doubles to earn the first point.
Priya Sukkanha (Nothaburi, Thailand / Fashion) and Weber won 6-2 at number one doubles.
Tova Tilk Tobrand (Gothenburg, Sweden / Industrial Design) and
Yue Yu (Dalian, China / Illustration) won 6-1 at number two doubles while
Nicole Katzarkov (Coral Gables, Fla. / Preservation Design) and
Haley Morrissey (Frisco, Texas / Animation) won 6-2 in the number three spot.
Yu, playing at number one singles for the first time in her collegiate career, won 6-4, 2-6, 7-6 (8). Sukkanha won 6-0, 7-5 at number two singles while Morrissey won 6-4, 7-6 at number three singles.
Weber and Katzarkov won 6-2, 6-2 and 6-1, 6-3 in the numbers four and five singles locations with Tobrand winning 6-2, 6-2 at number six singles.
MEN'S RESULTS: Despite
Davis Clem (Knoxville, Tenn. / Advertising and Branding) and
Nicola Buffo (Legnago, Italy / Undeclared) winning 7-5 at number two doubles, the Bees lost the doubles point. Nunez and
Eloy Veloso (Mar Del Plata, Argentina / Advertising and Branding) lost 6-2 at number one doubles while
Aidan King (Richardson, Texas / Film and Television) and
Eli Sherman (Louisville, Ky. / Advertising) lost 6-1 in the number three spot.
Buffo won SCAD's only point after battling 4-6, 6-2, 7-6 at number two singles.
Nunez fell 6-0, 6-1 at number three singles while Veloso lost 6-1, 7-5 at number four singles.
Chase Wray (Charlestown, Ind. / Fashion Design) lost 6-0, 6-0 at number five singles and the number six singles position was lost be forfeit.
