Game Recap: No. 4 Women's Lacrosse | | Colena Roberts

No. 5 Women’s Lacrosse Second in AAC Tournament

QUICK GOAL: The No. 5 SCAD women's lacrosse team fell 20-7 to No. 3 Reinhardt in the Appalachian Athletic Conference Final on Saturday to finish second.
 
ALL-TOURNAMENT TEAM: At the conclusion of the game, Tracy Richards (Poway, Calif. / Visual Effects), Katie Rowell (Waldwick, N.J. / Industrial Design) and Clarke Haas (Pensacola, Fla. / Fashion Marketing and Management) were named to the All-Tournament Team.
 
RECORDS: The Bees are 8-2 overall while the Eagles improve to 11-1 so far this season.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED: SCAD struck first as Freshman of the Year, Haas, opened the game with a goal at the 28:39 mark to give the Bees a 1-0 lead.
 
Just over two minutes later Reinhardt went on a scoring run to go up 5-1 with 18:45 remaining in the first half. The Bees answered with a goal of their own from Keagan Plume (Glen Arm, Md. / Architecture) off an assist from Tatum Crouch (Easton, Md. / Fashion Marketing and Management) to bring the score to 5-2.
 
Unfortunately, the Eagles scored consecutive goals to bring the score to 11-2 before SCAD answered with the last three goals of the half from Haas, Allison Thierry (Stevensville, Md. / Interior Design) and Aly De Caro (El Dorado Hills, Calif. / Advertising and Branding), off an assist from Thierry, giving the Bees five goals to Reinhardt's 11 going into halftime.
 
Reinhardt opened the second half, scoring four goals with the last coming at the 22:40 mark. 
 
Crouch scored with 20:48 on the clock to bring the Bees within nine (15-6). SCAD went on to score one more goal when Thierry found the back of the net with 11:48 remaining in the game. However, the Eagles scored five more to earn the 20-7 win.
 
BOX SCORE: Thierry led the offense with two goals and one assist while Haas added two goals of her own. 
 
Crouch, Plume and De Caro each totaled one goal with Crouch adding one assist, two ground balls, two draw controls and two caused turnovers.
 
Goalie Richards led the team in ground balls, with three while making 10 saves in her 60 minutes of work.
 
WHAT'S NEXT? The Bees will wait to see if they will earn an At-Large Bid for the 2021 NAIA National Championships.
