Men’s Lacrosse Falls 12-10 at St. Andrews

QUICK GOAL: The SCAD men's lacrosse team traveled to St. Andrews University on Thursday and fell 12-10.

RECORDS: The Bees are now 2-1, 2-1 AAC on the season while the Knights are 3-3, 3-2.

HOW IT HAPPENED: SCAD outscored St. Andrews 4-1 in the first quarter with JT Smith (West End, N.C. / User Experience (UX) Design) scoring the first goal unassisted less than a minute into the game.

The senior's goal was followed by Banks Maynard (Harrisburg, N.C. / Animation) and Michael Moers (Savannah, Ga.) who were both assisted by Elliot Fish (Toronto, Ontario, Canada / Film and Television). Derek Amoth (Hopkinton, N.H. / Industrial Design) scored the last goal of the quarter with 1:52 remaining on the clock.

Sean Parmer (South Elgin, Ill. / Architecture) and Wolf Zachar (Springfield, Va. / Industrial Design) opened the second quarter with back-to-back goals giving the Bees a 6-1 lead.

St. Andrews answered with three goals of their own to come within two (6-4). Both teams scored one more goal with SCAD's coming from Maynard off an assist from Kyle Beckmann (Murphy, Texas / Visual Effects) to go into the half up 7-5.

Smith once again scored off the draw just into the third quarter bringing the score to 8-5.

The Eagles scored three goals in the remaining time while the Bees scored one – Seth Leister (Palm Coast, Fla. / User Experience (UX) Design) from Parmer – to end the third quarter up 9-8.

Unfortunately, SCAD only scored one goal in the fourth quarter when Leister found the back of the net off an assist from Fish at the 10:25 mark. St. Andrews scored four goals to earn the 12-10 win.

BOX SCORE: Smith was on fire today, winning 17 of the 23 face offs he took while also tying a team-high two goals and picking up 11 ground balls, tying the game-high in the process.

Fish tallied a team-high three points with his three assists while Maynard and Leister totaled two goals each.

Along with his one goal, Parmer nabbed five ground balls and one assist while Zachar and Jake Kozak (Bel Air, Md. / Sequential Art) totaled four ground balls a piece.

Goalie Benny Goldberg (West Bloomfield, Mich. / Industrial Design) totaled 18 saves in his 60 minutes of work.

WHAT'S NEXT? The Bees return home to host Montreat College on Monday, March 29 at 1:00 p.m.
