QUICK GOAL: The No. 1 ranked SCAD women's lacrosse team returned to action with a dominating 18-8 win over the visiting Skyhawks of Point University.
RECORDS: The Bees are now 1-0, 1-0 ACC while the Skyhawks fall to 0-4, 0-4 AAC.
HOW IT HAPPENED: SCAD scored right off the draw when
Allison Thierry (Stevensville, Md. / Interior Design) found the back of the net 33 seconds into the first half.
Sophia Milia (Birmingham, Ala. / Business of Beauty & Fragrance) scored the second goal of the game at the 25:47 mark while
Aly De Caro (El Dorado Hills, Calif. / Advertising and Branding) added back-to-back goals off assists from Thierry and
Keagan Plume (Glen Arm, Md. / Architecture) to give the Bees a 4-0 lead.
Two minutes later it was Milia's turn for the back-to-back goals before De Caro and
Brielle Bouchard gave SCAD an 8-0 lead.
Point scored its first goal with 11:34 on the clock but Plume and
Clarke Haas responded with two more goals to bring the score to 10-1.
The Skyhawks' last goal of the half came at the 3:22 mark and the Bees rounded out the half with goals from De Caro and Thierry to lead 12-2 at the end of the first half.
Point opened the second half with four goals to cut the Bees' lead in half (12-6) before
Tatum Crouch (Easton, Md. / Fashion Marketing and Management), Haas (two consecutive goals), and Milia gave the Bees a 16-7 lead.
Both teams scored two more goals in the half with Crouch and Haas totaling SCAD's for the 18-9 win.
BOX SCORE: Haas, De Caro and Milia led the offensive charge with four goals each with Milia adding three assists for a game-high seven points.
Thierry totaled two goals and three assists for five points while Crouch tallied two goals with Plume and Bouchard each adding one.
Tracy Richards (Poway, Calif. / Visual Effects) earned the win with eight saves in her 31 minutes of work.
Veronica Grega added five saves in 29 minutes.
Katie Rowell (Waldwick, N.J. / Industrial Design) led the defense with a game-high five caused turnovers.
Olivia Jackson (York, Pa. / Fashion Marketing) totaled two caused turnovers while Haas,
Sydney Bowers (Lake Worth, Fla.),
Kambria Barry (Orlando, Fla. / Interior Design), Richards,
Isabelle Corns (McCordsville, Md. / Animation),
Jillian McCormick (Newington, Conn. / Interior Design), and
Eden Ali all added one.
Ainelsy Jones (Harvard, Mass. / Graphic Design) led the Bees with a team-high five caused turnovers while Crouch and Plume added four.
