No. 25 Women’s Soccer Drops 2-1 Decision in SUN Semifinal

LAKELAND, Fla. – The No. 25 SCAD women's soccer team lost 2-1 to No. 9 Southeastern in The Sun Conference Semifinal on Tuesday night.

  • The Bees are now 12-6-1.
  • The Fire improve to 14-3-0.
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Southeastern scored the first goal of the game at the 20:15 mark and held the Bees scoreless through the first half.
  • Twenty-Five minutes into the second half, the Fire score their second goal of the game to take a 2-0 lead.
  • Sydney Chura (Milford, Mich.) cut the lead in half with a goal off an assist from Ines Sommer (Lisbon, Portugal / Film and Television) in the 78th minute, but it was not enough as the Fire won 2-1.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
  • The Bees totaled 10 shots, eight of which were on goal.
  • Chura led the offense with one goal and two shots while Sommer totaled one assist and one shot.
  • Berglind Baldursdottir (Kopavogur, Iceland / Architecture) had a team-high three shots, two on goal.
  • Goalie Paige Hickman (Aurora, Colo. / Animation) totaled a season-best 10 saves in her 90 minutes of work.
WHAT'S NEXT?
  • The Bees will wait and see if they will earn an at-large bid to the 2021 NAIA National Championship that takes place November 18-20 (opening round – campus sites) and November 30 – December 6 in Orange Beach, Ala.
