No. 25 Women’s Soccer Makes History with 4-1 Win Over No. 18 Grace

PULASKI, Tenn. – The No. 25 SCAD women's soccer team upset No. 18 Grace College in the opening round of the NAIA National Championship on Thursday, winning 4-1.
 
DID YOU KNOW? This marks the third appearance in the NAIA National Championships and is the first time in women's soccer history that the Bees have advanced past the first round.
 
RECORDS: The Bees are now 13-6-1 overall while the Lancers end their season with an 11-7-1 record.
 
FRESHMAN HAT TRICK: Abigail Siddall (Plymouth, Mich. / Film and Television) had a big game, scoring three goals for her second hat trick of the season.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED: The Bees dominated from the very start with Siddall scoring her first goal less than a minute and a half into the game.
 
Twenty-six minutes later, the Lancers made it a one-all game with a goal of their own.
 
Six minutes later, SCAD took the lead, a lead they never relinquished,  when Emily Miller (Apex, N.C. / Advertising and Branding) received the cross ball from Sydney Chura (Milford, Mich.) and found the back of the net.
 
Siddall scored the insurance goal off an assist from Jenny Caracheo (Royse City, Texas / Luxury and Fashion Management) at the 41:24 mark to give the Bees a 3-1 lead going into halftime.
 
In the 50th minute, Siddall, with an assist from Courtney Culp (Piscataway, N.J. / Themed Entertainment Design), scored the last goal of the game to ultimately five SCAD the 4-1 lead.
 
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE: Siddall led the offense with three goals and six shots while Miller totaled one goal and two shots.
 
Goalie, Paige Hickman (Aurora, Colo.) had a huge save at 4-1 to keep the Bees ahead by three. The sophomore totaled five saves.
 
Chura (Milford, Mich.) totaled seven shots and one assist while Caracheo tallied four with Miller and Ines Sommer (Lisbon, Portugal / Film and Television) had two shots.
 
FROM THE COACHES: Head Coach Rebecca Gunn and Assistant Coach Sinead Byrne had this to say about the game: It was an "unbelievable performance tonight from our players. They dominated form the get go and solidified their place in the SCAD Women's Soccer history books. We couldn't be prouder of this group as we go again on Saturday."
 
WHAT'S NEXT? The No. 25 Bees, who are the three seed in the Pulaski bracket, will face the number one seed No. 4 Tennessee Southern on Saturday, November 20 at 2:00 p.m. CST/3:00 p.m. EST.
