No. RV Women’s Soccer Blanks Thomas University on Senior Day

HARDEEVILLE, S.C.  – The No. RV SCAD women's soccer team shutout Thomas University 4-0 Saturday on Senior Day.
 
SENIOR DAY
  • Prior to the start of the game, the five graduating members of the team were recognized: Emily Castro (New Port Richey, Fla. / Motion Media Design), Natalia Zapata (Suwanee, Ga. / Fashion Marketing and Management), Helena Godmann (Niedernhausen, Germany / Photography), Riley Shelton (Crestview Hill, Ky. / Design for Sustainability) and Eliana Charalombous (Manassas, Va. / Graphic Design).

  • The Night Hawks fall to 6-10-0, 1-7-0 SUN
DID YOU KNOW?
  • With this win, SCAD has won 10 games this season. The last time the Bees had a 10+ win season was in 2015 when the team went 12-5-2, 9-1-0 SUN.
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Bees opened the scoring at the 22:20 mark when Sydney Chura (Milford, Mich.) found the back of the net off an assist from Berglind Baldursdottir (Kopavogur, Iceland / Architecture).
  • With 36:00 minutes on the clock, Baldursdottir scored off a free kick from about 25 yards out, dropping the ball behind the keeper.
  • Chura scored the third goal of the game in the 40th minute after receiving a pass from Baldursdottir and clearing the remaining defender to score in the lower right corner to give SCAD a 3-0 lead going into halftime.
  • Abigail Siddall (Plymouth, Mich. / Film and Television) made it a 4-0 game, scoring on a through ball from Ines Sommer (Lisbon, Portugal / Film and Television).
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
  • The Bees outshot the Night Hawks 25-18 (11-4) while taking three corner kicks.
  • Chura scored two goals on four shots, while Baldursdottir totaled one goal and two assists.
  • Siddall totaled one goal while Sommer had one assist.
  • Goalie Charalambous totaled four saves in the shutout win.

  • The Bees travel to USCB on Saturday, October 30 for a 11:00 a.m. game.
