No. RV Women’s Soccer Dominates No. RV Ave Maria

HARDEEVILLE, S.C. – The No. RV women's soccer team hosted No. RV Ave Maria on Saturday and the Bees dominated.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • SCAD out-shot Ave Maria 29-13 with nine of those on goal.
  • The Bees got on the board first when Berglind Baldursdottir (Kopavogur, Iceland / Architecture) found the back of the net off an assist from Ines Sommer (Lisbon, Portugal / Film and Television) at the 36:44 mark.
  • Not even a minute later, Sommer scored what would be the winning goal to give the Bees a 2-0 lead.
  • Neither team scored in the last eight minutes and SCAD went into halftime up 2-0.
  • Just over a minute into the second half, Ave Maria got on the board, cutting the Bees' lead in half (2-1).
  • SCAD's defense held tight, not allowing another goal and in the 90th minute, Abigail Siddall (Plymouth, Mich. / Film and Television) scored the last goal of the game off an assist from Sommer and Sydney Chura (Milford, Mich.).
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
  • Sommer led the Bees on offense, taking nine shots, scoring one goal, and totaling two assists. Four of her nine shots were on goal.
  • Baldursdottir and Siddell rounded out the scoring with one goal each while Chura added an assist.
  • Riley Shelton (Crestview Hill, Ky. / Design for Sustainability), Noel Thompson (Chesapeake, Va. / Graphic Design), Pauline Watta (Rheine, Germany) and Helena Godmann (Niedernhausen, Germany / Photography) held the back line for the full 90 minutes, only allowing four shots on goal.
  • Goalie Eliana Charalambous (Manassas, Va. / Graphic Design) tallied three saves in her 90 minutes of work.
