No. 10 Men’s Lacrosse Opens Conference Action with Win

QUICK GOAL: The No. 10 SCAD men's lacrosse team opens Appalachian Athletic Conference action with a 14-6 win over Montreat College on Saturday.

RECORDS: The Bees are now 1-0 to start the season while the Cavilers are now 0-1.

HOW IT HAPPENED: SCAD dominated the first half with the first six goals of the game. Four of those goals came in the first quarter as the Bees went 4-0 going into the second. Liam Thomas (Brentwood, Tenn. / Motion Media Design) netted two goals while Sean Parmer (South Elgin, Ill. / Architecture) and Wolf Zachar (Springfield, Va. / Industrial Design) nabbed the other two.

In the second quarter, Parmer and Thomas score the first two goals to take a 6-0 lead with 2:17 on the clock. The Cavilers answered with one of their own before Zachar scored to give the Bees a 7-1 lead going into the half.

Montreat scored the first goal of the third but SCAD answered with three goals of their own – Jordan Reeves (Mississauga, Canada / Architecture), Thomas and Parmer – to go up by seven (10-3). The Cavilers finished the third with three goals to bring the score to 10-5 going into the fourth.

Elliot Fish (Toronto, Ontario, Canada / Film and Television) scored the first goal of the fourth quarter just 38 seconds in to give the Bees a 11-5 lead.

Parmer and Banks Maynard (Harrisburg, N.C. / Animation) scored back to back before Montreat scored its last goal of the game to bring the score to 13-6. Jude Kuhn (Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla. / Visual Effects) scored the last goal of the game with 36 seconds remaining in the quarter to give the Bees the 14-6 win.

BOX SCORE: Thomas and Parmer led the Bees with four goals each with Thomas picking up two assists and Parmer one.

Zachar totaled two goals and a game high five assists while Fish, Kuhn, Maynard and Reeves netted one goal each.

JT Smith (West End, N.C. / User Experience (UX) Design) went 17-24 at face off and picked up a game-high 11 ground balls in the process. Matt Tolmer (Bridgeville, Pa. / Advertising and Branding) totaled a game-high four caused turnovers.

Goalie Ross Wiseman (Loveland, Ohio / Animation) totaled 5 saves in just over 48 minutes of work while Benny Goldberg (West Bloomfield, Mich. / Industrial Design) totaled three saves in just over 11 minutes.

WHAT'S NEXT? The Bees return home to host LaGrange College on Saturday, February 22 at 4:00 p.m.
