QUICK SCORE: The No. 10 SCAD men's lacrosse team hosted NCAA DIII LaGrange College on Saturday and won 21-1.
RECORDS: The Bees improve to 2-0 while the Panthers fall to 1-3.
SINGLE GAME RECORD: Elliott Fish (Toronto, Ontario, Canada / Film and Television) broke the single game record for assists with five. The junior totaled five assists and three goals for a game high eight points.
HOW IT HAPPENED: The Bees scored the first four goals of the game when
Wolf Zachar (Springfield, Va. / Industrial Design),
Liam Thomas (Brentwood, Tenn. / Motion Media Design) (2) and Fish found the back of the new in the first quarter to go up 4-0.
LaGrange opened the second quarter with the first goal at the 12:39 mark but SCAD answered with four more goals – Thomas,
Jordan Reeves (Mississauga, Canada / Architecture),
JT Smith (West End, N.C. / User Experience (UX) Design) and
Bryant Aquino (Cincinnati, Ohio / Photography) to go up 8-1 at the half.
The Bees did not let up for the rest of the game, scoring seven goals – Smith,
Sean Parmer (South Elgin, Ill. / Architecture), Zachar, Thomas (2),
Aaron Allen (Chapel Hill, N.C. / Industrial Design) and
Banks Maynard (Harrisburg, N.C. / Animation) – to go into the fourth quarter with a 15-1 lead.
Six goals by
Reid McAtee (Williamsburg, Va. / Interactive Design/Game Development), Fish (2) Parmer, Zachar and
Jude Kuhn (Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla. / Visual Effects) rounded out the scoring to give the Bees the 21-1 win.
BALANCED ATTACK: Eleven different athletes scored for SCAD with Thomas leading the charge with five goals.
Zachar and Fish totaled three goals each with Fish adding his record-breaking game-high five assists.
Smith and Parmer totaled two goals each. Smith went 16-18 at face off and totaled a game-high 12 ground balls. Aquino, Reeves, Kuhn, McAtee and Allen tallied one goal each.
The defense was led by
Tyler Hunsaker (Draper, Utah / Film and Television) with four caused turnovers and six ground balls. Zachar, Kyle Beckman (Murphy, Texas / Visual Effects),
Carter Nero (Fort Collins, Colo. / Industrial Design) and
Jackson Bryan (Alpharetta, Ga. / User Experience (UX) Design) totaled two caused turnovers with five more guys picking up one.
Goalies
Ross Wiseman (Loveland, Ohio / Animation) and
Nicholas Vittitow (Cumming, Ga. / Interactive Design/Game Development) each spent time in the cage and nabbed four saves a piece.
