QUICK SCORE: The No. 1 ranked SCAD women's lacrosse team continues to win with its 24-15 win over visiting No. 4 Keiser University on Sunday.
RECORDS: The Bees are now 4-0 overall while the Seahawks are now 2-1.
HOW IT HAPPENED? Despite inclement weather changing the start time from 2:00 p.m. to 12:45 p.m. SCAD was ready to continue its success.
Sydney Knego (Potomac Falls, Va. / Advertising and Branding) scored the opening goal at the 26:26 mark to go up 1-0.
Keiser answered with a goal four minutes later to tie the game at one-all.
SCAD scored the next six goals – Knego (2),
Jordan Mitchell (Tualatin, Ore. / Photography) (2),
Tatum Crouch (Easton, Md. / Fashion Marketing and Management) and
Sophia Milia (Birmingham, Mich. / Business of Beauty and Fragrance) – to go up 7-1. Unfortunately, the Seahawks out-scored the Bees 7-3 in the remaining 15 minutes of the first half to give the Bees a slight 10-8 lead.
Aly De Caro (El Dorado Hills, Calif. / Fashion Marketing and Management), Milia and Knego opened the second half with three goals within the first four minutes to go up by five (13-8). Keiser answered with three goals of their own to come within two (13-11) once again – this would be the closest the Seahawks would come for the remainder of the game.
SCAD responded with five goals from Mitchell,
Grace Boyer (Stevensville, Md. / Interior Design), Knego (2) and Milia to jump ahead by seven (18-11).
The Seahawks scored twice more with the second coming at the 16:41 mark but the Bees answered with five more goals – Knego, Boyer, Milia,
Allison Thierry (Stevensville, Md. / Interior Design) and Crouch – to go up 23-13 at the 6:28 mark.
Keiser scored twice more, with Knego adding one, to bring the final score to 24-15 in the Bees' favor.
BOX SCORE: Knego had a phenomenal game with a record tying nine goals and three assists for 12 points. The senior tied a game-high nine draw controls while also adding three caused turnovers and two ground balls.
Mitchell and Milia totaled four goals with Mitchell picking up four assists and four draw controls and Milia tallying three assists.
Thierry totaled two goals and three assists for five points while Crouch and Boyer added two goals with De Caro totaling one. Crouch also added seven draw controls.
Goalies
Tracy Richards (Poway, Calif. / Visual Effects) and
Haley McCullough (Lititz, Pa. / Illustration) split time in the cage while tallying one and four saves, respectively.
