Men’s Soccer Suffers Season Opening Loss

QUICK GOAL: The SCAD men's soccer team opened the season with a 6-1 loss at the University of the Cumberlands on Saturday evening.
 
RECORDS: The Bees are 0-1 to open the season while the Patriots are 1-0.
 
DID YOU KNOW? SCAD hosted the Cumberlands in last season's opener and tied 1-1 in double overtime.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED? The Bees held the Patriots to only one goal in the first half and started the second half down 1-0.
 
The Patriots scored the first two goals of the second-half to go up 3-0 before Tom Barry put the Bees on the board at the 61:39 mark.
 
Unfortunately, Cumberlands scored three more goals in the second half to win 6-1.
 
BOX SCORE: Barry went one for one, taking one shot and scoring the only goal. Jayden Corbridge, McKinley Fodness, Lewis Gamble and Jesus Ulloa all totaled one shot each.
 
Goalie Joe Parker totaled five saves.

COACH MALONEY: "This was obviously not the result we wanted, but we know that it will take a little time to get back into competitive form" states Interim Head Coach Ryan Maloney. "We have lots to work on and I know the lads are looking forward to working hard and prepping for the home game on Tuesday."
 
WHAT'S NEXT? The Bees will host Middle Georgia State University in the home opener on Tuesday, Aug. 20 at 7:00 p.m.
