QUICK STORY: The No. 1 ranked SCAD women's lacrosse team traveled to No. RV Life University on Thursday and won 28-4 to close out the regular season.
RECORDS: The Bees end the regular season with an 11-1 record while the Running Eagles are now 6-6 overall.
DID YOU KNOW? This was a record-breaking game for SCAD as the team broke the program record for points and assists in a single game with 49 and 21, respectively. The previous record for points (48) was set earlier this season against Lourdes University and the assists record (19) was set in 2016 and tied earlier this season against Lourdes.
With 10 assists,
Jordan Mitchell broke the single game assists record (7) that she tied earlier in the season against Indiana Tech and set last season against Keiser University. With her 10 assists and three goals, Mitchell also tied the program record for points in a single game.
Sydney Knego tied her own draw control record in a game with 15. She set the previous record earlier this season against Keiser University.
HOW IT HAPPENED: The Bees scored the first five goals –
Harper Barth, Mitchell, Knego (2) and
Jenna Nabridge – to take an early 5-0 lead.
The Running Eagles scored their first goal at the 25:50 mark but SCAD answered with four more goals from
Drew Dowgiallo (2),
Aly De Caro and Barth to take the 9-1 lead with just over 20 minutes remaining in the half.
Life scored two more goals to SCAD's seven –
Mackenzie DeMott, Knego (3),
Allison Thierry,
Sophia Milia and
Grace Boyer – to end the half with a 16-3.
The Bees' defense only allowed one goal in the second half while SCAD's offense scored 12 goals from Dowgiallo, Mitchell (2), Nabridge,
Mae Dougherty,
Tatum Crouch, Milia (2) and Knego (4).
BOX SCORE: Mitchell led the team in points with a game-high 13 (three goals, 10 assists) while Knego led the team in goals with nine. Knego also added 15 draw controls.
Milia and Dowgiallo totaled three goals each while Nabridge and Barth had two each.
Crouch, De Caro, Boyer, Dougherty, DeMott and Thierry totaled one goal each.
Olivia Stahl picked up a game-high five ground balls while Mitchell,
Katie Rowell and
Maggie Lortz picked up three each. Milia and De Caro nabbed two while eight other players totaled one.
Morgan Willett and Milia totaled two caused turnovers.
Goalies Lortz,
Tracy Richards and
Liv Vieira split time in the cage and totaled one save each.
