No. 1 Women’s Lacrosse Continues to Dominate

QUICK SCORE: The No. 1 ranked women's lacrosse team continues to dominate as they defeated NCAA DIII Birmingham-Southern College 24-7 on Saturday.
 
RECORDS: The Bees improve to 6-1 while the Panthers fall to 4-7.
 
DID YOU KNOW?This is the sixth game in which SCAD has scored more 20 or more points.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED: The Bees struck first scoring back-to-back goals from Drew Dowgiallo and Jordan Mitchell in less than two minutes of action.
 
The Panthers scored their first goal just under three minutes later to come within one (2-1). This is the closest Birmingham-Southern got for the remainder of the game.
 
Sydney Knego scored back-to-back goals to give SCAD the 4-1. Both teams traded goals until the 15:14 mark when Grace Boyer scored the first goal of what would be 10 unanswered goals which gave the Bees a 16-4 lead going into halftime.
 
Jenna Nabridge scored the first goal of the second half just under two minutes in. At 26:21, the Panthers scored their first of three goals in the second. 
 
SCAD answered with four more goals – Mitchell, Harper Barth, Dowgiallo and Milia – to increase their lead to 16 points (21-5).
 
The Panthers scored at 15:51 (21-6) before the Tatum Crouch (2) and Mae Dougherty scored the remaining goals for SCAD with the last coming at the 8:50 mark. 
 
Birmingham Southern scored the last goa of the game at the 7:30 mark with the final score coming to 24-7 in the Bees' favor.
 
BOX SCORE: Mitchell led the way with a game-high seven points coming off of three goals and three assists while also adding five draw controls and three grounf balls. Milia totaled six points with three goals and three assists while Knego tallied four goals for four points.
 
Dowgiallo and Barth also scored three goals while Crouch and Mackenzie DeMott scored two. Taylor Rosenfeld, Nabridge, Boyer and Dougherty added one goal each while Nabridge and Allison Thierry totaled one assist.
 
Knego totaled a game-high 10 draw controls, a game-high four caused turnovers and five ground balls. Emma Devereaux totaled five ground balls to go along with three caused turnovers.
 
Goalies Maggie Lortz, Tracy Richards and Liv Vieira all spent time in the cage with Lortz and Richards totaling six and three saves, respectively.
 
WHAT'S NEXT? The Bees will travel to No. RV Ave Maria University on March 30 for an 11:00 a.m. game.
