High-Scoring First Half Leads to Win For No. 1 Women’s Lacrosse

QUICK SCORE: The No. 1 ranked SCAD women's lacrosse team dominated Saturday afternoon as they won 29-5 over the visiting Lourdes University Gray Wolves.
 
RECORDS: The Bees improve to a 4-1 record while the Gray Wolves fall to 3-6.
 
DID YOU KNOW? This was SCAD's all-time highest scoring game. The record was previously broken with 27 goals against University of the Cumberlands on March 23, 2018. The Bees also broke the all-time points record of 44 (Feb. 1, 2016) with today's 48 points. SCAD also tied the all-time assist record of 19, also set on Feb. 1, 2016.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED: Allison Thierry scored the first goal of the game when she found the net two minutes into the first half. 
 
The Gray Wolves led 2-1 after three minutes until Sydney Knego's and Aly De Caro's goals at 03:28 and 03:43, respectively gave the Bees the 3-2 lead. 
 
The game was tied again with a Gray Wolves goal at 04:17 but fell after the tie-up.
 
The Bees scored 18 more goals in the first half to lead 21-3 going into the second.
 
At 35 seconds, Mackenzie DeMott scored the first goal for the Bees in the second half. The Gray Wolves scored again at 02:27 and 22:18. 
 
The 29thgoal was scored by Sydney Knego and assisted by Tess St. John at the 28:49 mark. 
 
BOX SCORE: Knego totaled a game-high seven goals and added one assist for a game-high eight points.
 
De Caro and Tatum Crouch totaled four goals with De Caro adding two assists for a six points. Jordan Mitchell,tallied three goals and four assists for seven points. DeMott also scored a total of three goals.
 
Thierry, Mae Dougherty, and Jenna Nabridge all scored two goals and a few assists. Drew Dowgiallo and Harper Barth scored one goal each, with Dowgiallo adding three assists for a total of four points.
 
Goalies Maggie Lortz (4-1) and Tracy Richards split time in cage and totaled two and three saves, respectively.
 
WHAT'S NEXT? The Bees hit the road to play Tennessee Wesleyan University on March 22 in Athens, Tennessee.
