Top-5 Match-Up Win for No. 1 Women’s Lacrosse; Mitchell Ties Record

QUICK STORY:The No. 1 ranked SCAD women's lacrosse team defeated No. 4 Indiana Tech 25-16 at home Saturday morning.
 
RECORDS:The Bees improve to 3-1 overall while the Warriors fall to 1-2.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED?SCAD opened the game with a Hat Trick from Sydney Knego followed by a goal from Jenna Nabridge to go up. 4-0 at the 25:27 mark.
 
Indiana Tech scored their first goal at the 24:22 mark but not even a minute later, Knego scored again to maintain SCAD's four-point lead (5-1).
 
The Bees scored 16 more goals in the first half – the Warriors scored eight – to go into halftime with an 11-point lead (21-10).
 
Drew Dowgiallo scored the first goal in the second half for SCAD while Indiana Tech answered with two of their own with the second coming at the 18:25 mark (21-11).
 
The Bees answered with three more goals from Aly De Caro, Harper Barth and Mackenzie Demott.
 
The Warriors scored five goals in-a-row but it was not enough as Dowgiallo score with 46 second remaining in the game to give SCAD the 25-16 win.
 
BOX SCORE: Knego and Dowgiallo scored five-goals each while Knego added four assists for a game-high nine points.
 
Jordan Mitchell totaled seven assists for seven points – tying a program record of seven assists in a single game that she set last season.
 
De Caro tallied four goals and one assist while Demott added three goals for three points.
 
Allison Thierry and Barth added two goals while Tatum Crouch, Nabridge, Oliva Stahl and Mae Dougherty had one goal a-piece.
 
Stahl totaled a game-high nine ground balls and six caused turnovers. Knego and De Caro nabbed nine and six draw controls, respectively.

Tracy Richards (26:05), Maggie Lortz (21:20) and Liv Vieira (12:35) split time in the cage and totaled three, two and one saves, respectively.
