QUICK GOAL: The SCAD women's soccer team traveled to Warner University Wednesday night and won 3-2 in overtime.
RECORDS: The Bees are now 4-4, 1-1 TSC while the Royals are now 1-7, 0-2 TSC.
DID YOU KNOW? SCAD has come out on top in 15 of the 19 games these two teams have played against each other.
HOW IT HAPPENED: Just over five minutes into the game, the Royals scored the first goal to tke the early 1-0 lead.
SCAD answered at the 22:17 mark when
Natalia Zapata found the back of the net to tie the game at one.
Hannah Amidon, off an assist from
Noel Thompson, scored at the 28:33 mark to give SCAD its first lead of the game, a lead they took into halftime.
Twelve minutes into the second half, Warner tied the game 2-2. Neither team would score for the remainder of the second half to force overtime.
The Roayls started overtime with the ball but the Bees' defense held strong to clear the ball up field as
Sam Manelis took control just past midfield. Manelis found
Natalia Zapata on the left side of the goal where the sophomore looked to shoot but instead found Manelis closing in on the right side. Manelis received the ball and found the back of the net to end the overtime period at the 94:31 mark and secure the 3-2 win.
BOX SCORE: The athletes combined to score the Bees' three goals – Zapata, Amidon and Manelis with Zapata and
Noel Thompson adding an assist.
Manelis totaled four shots while
Madison Lambert and
Mikaela Heyboer tallied two shots each.
Rebecca Watson,
Mackayla Dean, Amidon and Zaptata took one shot each.
The Bees defense held the Royals to 10 shots, six on goal and two goals.
Goalie
Elisa Dogor totaled four saves in her 94:31 minutes of action.

The women's soccer team will play the second game of a double header on Saturday, October 5 at 2:00 p.m. Prior to the women's game against Florida Memorial, the men's soccer team will play Keiser at 11:30 a.m. It is a shuttle and pizza day where shuttles will be running for students from the Hive to the SCAD Athletics Complex every 30 minutes starting at 11:00 a.m. Free pizza will be provided – first come, first serve.
