Men’s Soccer Upsets No. 9 Southeastern

QUICK SCORE: The SCAD men's soccer team upset the No. 9 ranked Southeastern University at home Wednesday night, winning 1-0 in regulation.

 

DID YOU KNOW? This is the biggest upset in men's soccer history and Southeastern's first loss of the season.

 

RECORDS: The Bees are now 5-4, 3-2 TSC while the Fire are now 10-1-2, 4-1-1 TSC overall.

 

HOW IT HAPPENED: A header by Jesus Ulloa (saved and deflected) turned into a goal for Matteo Tizzano as he found the back of the net in the 66th minute.

 

Neither team scored prior to Tizzano's goal and neither team scored for the remainder of the game to give the Bees the 1-0 upset win over the Fire.

 

BOX SCORE: The Bees totaled 13 shots, five on goal, in the win.

 

Tizzano scored the lone goal and took two shots – both going on goal. Tom Barry took four shots while J. Ulloa totaled three shots.

 

Billy Mitchell added two shots with Ty Bennett and Lewis Gamble tallying one each.

 

Goalie Joe Parker had a great game behind the SCAD defense who held the fire to only eight shots on goal. Parker totaled eight saves, and earned the shutout, in his 90 minutes of work.

 

WHAT'S NEXT? The Bees will host Johnson & Wales (Fla.) on Saturday, October 19 at 3:00 p.m.
