No. 7 Men's Lacrosse Takes Down No. 4 Keiser in Upset

QUICK STORY: The No. 7 SCAD men's lacrosse team upset No. 4 Keiser 11-9 on the road Saturday afternoon during its last regular season game.

RECORDS: The Bees improve to 8-4 overall while the Seahawks are now 7-3 this season.

HOW IT HAPPENED: Five goals to Keiser's one in the fourth quarter clinched the win for the Bees.

SCAD jumped to an early 1-0 lead with a goal by Wolf Zachar less than a minute into the first quarter. However, Keiser answered with three goals of their own to take the 3-1 lead with just over nine minutes remaining in the quarter. Elliot Fish scored the last goal of the quarter to cut the lead in half (3-2) going into the second.

Once again, the Skyhawks outscored the Bees 3-2 in the second quarter to take a 6-4 lead into halftime. SCAD remained two goals down at the end of the third quarter (8-6) as both teams managed two goals apiece.

The Bees came out firing in the fourth quarter, scoring three goals in less than a minute and a half – the last came at the 13:13 mark – to take their second lead of the game (9-8). Keiser scored one more goal to tie the game at nine-all but Jude Kuhn and Wolf scored at the 4:01 and 00:37 marks, respectively to put the game out of reach, and earn the 11-9 win.

BOX SCORE: Zachar led the way for the Bees scoring a game-high five goals and totaling one assist for a game-high six points.

Kuhn ended the game with a hat trick, scoring three goals on five shots while Fish and Sean Parmer added one.

Jack Cioffi picked up a team-high six ground balls while Parmer added five and Griffin Hunt and Zachar tallied four.

Goalie Connor Goonan earned the win with nine saves in his 60 minutes of work.

WHAT'S NEXT? This game marked the end of the regular season and with this win the Bees have earned an automatic bid to the NAIA Invitational National Championships in Grand Rapids, Mich. on May 8-12.
