Brunswick, Georgia – The fourth-ranked SCAD women's tennis team defeat College of Coastal Georgia 9-0 in their regular season finale Saturday afternoon at the Marta B. Torrey Tennis Complex. With the win the Bees improve to 14-1 and extend their winning streak to 14, while the Mariners fall to 3-11.
SCAD began the match up 3-0 due to forfeit wins at No. 3 doubles, No. 5 singles, and No. 6 singles. Camille Gbaguidi and Paige Murdock remained undefeated with an 8-2 win at No. 1 doubles. Julia Albuquerque and Karina Rovira followed with an 8-4 win at No. 2 doubles to clinch the match.
With the match already clinched the top four singles players played one set to eight to close out the match. Murdock, Albuquerque, and Rovira each won 8-2, while Gbaguidi won 8-6 for the 9-0 final.
Gbaguidi finishes the regular season with a perfect 14-0 singles record at the top spot, while the duo of Gbaguidi and Murdock improves to 15-0 at No. 1 doubles.
The Bees will return to the court Friday, April 22, when they travel to Miami, Florida to take part in The Sun Conference tournament. SCAD is the top seed and will face fourth-seed Southeastern in the semi-finals.
