Strong Second Half Propels Bees to 13-6 Win

Athens, Tennessee – The SCAD men's lacrosse team netted six second half goals en route to a 13-6 win over the University of Michigan-Dearborn Saturday afternoon. With the win the Bees improve to 3-3, while the Wolverines fall to 3-2.

The game started back and forth with both teams netting three goals in the first quarter. The Bees outscored the Wolverines 4-2 in the second quarter to take a 7-5 lead at the break. SCAD defense continued to step up in the second half as the Bees held the University of Michigan-Dearborn to one goal over the final 30 minutes, while the Bees offense netted six goals for the 13-6 final.

Leading the way for the Bees was Jack Cioffi, Philip Sussingham, and Brendan Buckley. Cioffi netted a team-high four goals, while Sussingham scored a hat trick and dished out one assist. Buckley tallied two goals, two assists, and three ground balls.

Mitch Snider added a pair of goals and Griffin Hunt and Reid Campbell each netted a goal in the win. Sam Button dished out two assists.

Connor Goonan made ten saves in the cage to improve to 3-3 on the season. It was the fourth time this season that he made double-digit saves in a game. Snider and Cioffi tied for the team lead in ground balls and they picked up six apiece.

The Bees return to action Sunday, March 6, when they play Tennessee Wesleyan at noon.
