Women’s Tennis Defeats 15th-ranked Indiana Wesleyan 7-2

Savannah, Georgia - The fourth-ranked SCAD women's tennis team scored the last five points of the match to defeat 15th-ranked Indiana Wesleyan 7-2 Saturday afternoon at Bacon Park. With the win the Bees improve to 7-1, while the Wildcats fall to 15-1.

SCAD struck first as Daniella Arcila and Angie Dahnous pulled off an 8-6 win at No. 3 doubles. The Wildcats evened the score 1-1 with an 8-6 win at No. 2 doubles. At No. 1 doubles Camille Gbaguidi and Paige Murdock teamed up to upset the top-ranked doubles team of Lucia Solis and Katie Wilson 8-5 to give the Bees a 2-1 advantage heading into singles play.

Indiana Wesleyan picked up a win at No. 3 singles to tie the match 2-2. Julia Albuquerque and Arcila earned straight sets wins to give the Bees a 4-2 lead. Gbaguidi followed with a 6-4, 6-1 win at No. 1 singles to clinch the match. Dahnous improved to 4-2 at No. 5 singles with a 6-3, 6-2 win. At No. 2 singles Paige Murdock defeated Wilson, who was ranked 34th, 6-3, 5-7, 11-9 for the 7-2 final.

Gbaguidi and Murdock improve to 8-0 at No. 1 doubles, while Gbaguidi and Albuquerque remain undefeated in singles play.

SCAD is 4-0 against teams ranked in the NAIA Coaches' Poll.

The Bees will return to the court tomorrow, March 6, when they face conference for Webber. The match is scheduled for 11 a.m. at Bacon Park.
