Savannah, Georgia - The fourth-ranked SCAD women's tennis team held Warner to five games in singles as the Bees defeated the Royals 9-0 Saturday afternoon at Bacon Park. With the win the Bees improve to 11-1 overall and 5-0 in conference play, while the Royals fall to 5-5 overall and 2-3 against The Sun Conference.
Camille Gbaguidi and Paige Murdock teamed up for an 8-0 win at No. 1 doubles to score the first point of the match. With the win, the duo improves to 12-0 on the year. Julia Albuquerque and Karina Rovira followed with an 8-1 win at No. 2 doubles.
At No. 3 doubles Daniella Arcila and Angie Dahnous trailed 5-1, but rallied to score the final seven points of the match and win 8-5 to give the Bees a 3-0 lead.
In singles play, Gbaguidi, Murdock, Rovira, and Dahnous all won their respective match 6-0, 6-0 to clinch the win. Albuquerque followed with a 6-0, 6-3 win at No. 4 singles to extend the lead to 8-0. Anastasia Castro, playing No. 6 singles, defeated Thalia Roustand 6-2, 6-0 for the 9-0 final.
The Bees will return to the court Friday, April 1, when they host William Woods. The match is scheduled for 9 a.m. at Bacon Park.
